29er bike on LA Metro bus rack?

New here to the forum. I know putting a bike on a bus rack sounds like sacrilege, but I've used the bus, train and bike to get around together in the past in LA on the Metro. I have a plain old mountain bike with 26" wheels. Fits fine on the rack. Has anyone tried to put a 29er on the bus rack? Does it fit? I think the LA Metro policy says that any size up to a 29" wheel will fit, but I just wanted to confirm that with some one who has done it. Thanks.

    Great info, great forum.

If it's not a sportswork rack, let down the tires and it will fit. I have that problem here in Seattle. They'll take up to a 700x45, but my tires are 700x51... I have to inflate them at the destination, but I actually get to the destination.
