    Pure lovin' - new Commencal

After some serious deliberating, debating, discussing, and plain ol' arguing, I settled on buying the new Commencal Meta 5.5 numero 3 and building my Shimano XT drivetrain and disc brakes across. The buildup was finished last week and I was fitted on Saturday and took my new baby home.

What a rush! I was worried at 14.4kg that she'd feel heavy. But when I bike fits you correctly, it saves many woes. I couldn't believe how this new bike cornered and how stable it felt in sand and rolling over rocks and stuff. The geometry is definitely DH bred and I was a bit further back than is advisable (knee not squarely over pedal axle) but even with this she climbs beautifully. But the proof was of course in the descents. I tackled a short rocky descent that usually has me braking fairly aggressively. No more! Hands barely touching the brakes, I found myself involuntarily letting off a "WOO HOO!" as I sped down the hill!!

I'll try attach a pic of my beauty

Sooo beautiful! I've just done my first 2 day stage event on him beginning of June, and doing another one 21st July. Bike is a bit heavy (I bought the cheap model with a fairly heavy Marzocchi fork) but rides really nicely

I am on a Meta 5.2 (2006). They FLY downhill to be sure. Holy crap.

I have issues with the front wheel lifting on steep climbs, and pedal strikes, but overall it is a fantastic trail bike. And NO BOB.
All problems in mountain biking can be solved by going faster, except the ones that are caused by going too fast.
