Is the stock shock a fox float?, So long as the compression tune and the rebound tune is the same( bar indicators on the shock body show the levels) then the rp23 should feel the same...that is until you engage the switch.
I had a 2009 meta5 that came with a rp23 shock(its on my 2010 replcament now). It's a nice option to firm up the suspension on the fly, but i probably wouldnt change from a basic fox float rpx to just get that feature. Have you thought of getting the stock one pushed? I think it would cost about the same as a replcament and by all accounts gives far better bump compliance than all of the models.
Just an idea.
