    2008 Commencal Sneak Peak

    2008 Commencal Sneak Peak
    Source: Peter Appleton, Commencal Canada

For 2008 Commencal had the vision to introduce a couple new models (namely the Furious and 666) at the same time tweaking their existing fleet to become even lighter and stronger by utilizing better materials and construction techniques. This resulted in some of the best frames in the world (they even have a fully hydroformed hardtail for $1000cdn!) at an affordable price!

I think that the older swing arm looked so much better, the 666 and below got hit by the ugly stick

new swingarm is 10% stiffer, front der has dedicated mount for better shifting and also has new linkage that has been ball blasted to be 12% stronger

some people like the new looks other prefer the older, but the bottom line is the new one is 200gr lighter and way stronger

they did this by steepening the seat angle will keeping the original headangle, thereby putting better weight distribution over the cranks for climbing while not steepening the headangle which would make descending suffer

if you look at the linkage's and suspension design they are night and day, the giant has a pivot behind the bb, the commencal doesn't, thereby the commencal remains much much stiffer and more reliable in the long term
