    Steamboat and Vail riding recommendations

    Morning All,

Probably for some your gonna hate to read this, but I got ask. I"m going to be heading out to Vail and Steamboat next week to visit a friend. Can you guys spare me some beta on some trails that I shouldn't miss and a shop or two that rents decent rigs. As much ST as I can get, plz not too much jeep trails. I know you guys have had tons of rain and if it was my turf I wouldn't want people riding on it for the sake of preservation but I all ready had the trip planned. Any info would help. thanks much

Lucky for you the weather will be good in Vail starting tomorrow and the forecast looks pretty clear. If it rains near Vail, it tends to be starting at 4-5pm.

    My favorites around Vail are:

    -Meadow Mountain (Minturn)
    -Son of Middle Creek (Vail)
-Two Elk (Vail Pass to Minturn)
-Eagle (30 min west of Vail and a ton of good ST)

Check out Vail Velo for more info on local trails.

here's a link to the latest bike guide - good place to start if you're not familiar with the area.

if you've not ridden here in steamboat before i'd suggest exploring the emerald mountain trail system. it's right in town and offers many route options. here's a link to a map of emerald that the city put out a while back.

not sure what type of rig you're looking to rent - i'd suggest orange peel, wheels or ski and bike kare. all are located downtown and can provide up-to-date trail conditions. more info here.

hope that helps you out. have fun!

Great riding on howlson hill in steamboat. Google the steamboat stinger race and download the race course map. The race takes advantage of most of the great trail located there. Good 25 mile loop.
