I would not choose a single speed for riding in Steamboat but maybe your legs can handle it. Some of the grades can get steep. I am going there in a few weeks and I am bringing a Trek EX8 and a Pivot Mach 429, which are both full suspension 2x10 and 3x9. When I went last year I rented a Rocky Mountain Slayer 50 which was just about the perfect bike for the area but it was a little too much bike for some of the climbs. Last year I arrived the day after they shut down the lifts for the season so it was ride up and ride down all day. I wont make that mistake again this year.

A good bike to ride around Steamboat is a Moots. Local Ti rides best on local trails.

I think Eriksens ride good here too, or they used to....

To be constructive, there is little to no flat trail here, so you and your knees make the call on bringing a SS.

Unless you are shuttling things....The trails go up and then the trails go down...
