    Red Rocks Wilderness Bill.

    Hi All,

I have not posted in a loooong time, but I thought I would provide this tidbit of information. It appears that SUWA with the help of a variety of Senators and Congress persons is proposing a wilderness area that will eliminate many mountainbike trails with wilderness designation. I prefer good management of our public lands (which is laughable in most cases) over wilderness designation (in which we have no trail access). Sen Mark Udall is one of the primary sponsors of this bill. Regardless of your politics, let Sen Udall know how you feel. Good management and law enforcement is the answer instead of closing the land to all users IMHO..

No, not All users. Just the ones on wheels and pedals. Sorry, should have clarified. Back to my hole now.

Can't tell from the maps on the Suwa site exactly which trails will be affected. Any lists available?

The entire bill can be searched and read here is the information. Americas Red Rock Wilderness Act (H.R. 1925/S.799) According to the bill and the way it is written is anything that is slick rock will be wilderness. This includes the Sand Flats Road and Slick Rock trail. Check out the proposed wilderness area east of moab. Here is a link to their map: http://www.suwa.org/site/DocServer/A...pdf?docID=8061
