May road trip what will be dry? And a few other questions.

Canít believe May is just a week away and itís still snowing!
I think I have it figured out but most of the rides I have chosen are new to me so any info or tips are greatly appreciated. I plan on leaving on the 13th . That should be enough time for the snow to melt and for me to get back into shape.

Browns Creek itís a crap shoot but it might be dry by then.

Hartman Rocks. Havenít been here in about 20 years. Looks like there are more trails now.
Whatís your favorite 15-20 mile route ? Can you still camp out there? A current map?

Sidewinder Trail. I donít plan on doing a shuttle I was thinking about 1 big loop or two shorter loops. Anyone ever try this?

From there I plan on heading over to check out some of the Paradox Trail, Y-11, and the Uncompahgre.
Does anyone know if the Paradox reroute is finished?
Any gas out that way? I heard they were going to put a pay at the pump station in Gateway.
When does the snow usually melt on the Uncompahgre? Iím thinking Divide Forks and Dominguez Canyon.
Casto Draw. Does anyone know if I can drive a truck up this road? This would be a nice shortcut to Divide Forks.

Nat Geo topo shows Picket Trail that runs from 141 to 10/18 RD. Never heard of this trail has anyone else? Itís got my curiosity up.

Flowing Park when can you ride that?

Then I plan on spending the rest of my time exploring some worthless moto track in the Grand Valley.

Hit Palisade Rim, Rifle and Eagle on the way home.
    Thanks.

Maybe add Carbondale to that list. I rode Eagle yesterday. They will be near 100% in a week I bet. All of the Boneyard area is good-to-go.

Hartmans is good-to-go now I heard.

    Salida/Buena Vista will be G2G.

Carbondale is dry, but higher up-valley will be quite a while. Mushy and Prince Ck are fine. Most elk closures are over on either 4/30 or 5/15, depending on the area. The late snow added considerably to the snowpack, so it's doubtful much will be open above 8000' for a while.

Harman Rocks may have some seasonal trail closures (for Sage Grouse) on certain routes - check the Gunni web sites for actual details.

Great suggestion I have yet to ride Carbondale. Are Price and Thompson Creek GTG or just Red Mountain. What else is free of snow and mud? I have been wanting to ride Forest Hollow and Boy Scout for years so I think Iím going to drop Eagle. Carbondale is just a short trip up the creek. I hear there are some places to camp along the way.
Thanks Iíll have to look into it.

I always forget about checking for those seasonal closures .
I didn't see anything on the BLM site . I should be able to look it up on the DOW site.
Iíll check out Gunnison site as well.

Casto Draw, yes you can drive a truck up it. Right now you won't make it all the way due to snow. I won't try and predict when it will be open.

The snow pack has ended up being fairly close to average so high country rides will be opening up pretty close to average. That means the lower stuff opens mid-late May and the mid elevation stuff is more or less mid June and the high alpine isn't until late June early July.

However, there is some nice spring ski touring to be had.

Plenty of free camping out there.
    Current Hartman's map: http://gotoguide.com/wp-content/uplo..._map_large.jpg

Everything south of powerline road is closed until May 15th

Here are a few of my favs...Personally i think most of the trails out there are pretty fun and can be mixed/matched for endless combos
    Rocky ridge North to South
    Rattlesnake South to North
Skyline or Broken Shovel South to North
    Josie's North to South
    Luge South to North
    Alonzo's West to East
    Behind the rocks both directions
    Beck's South to North

Thank for the map an trail tips. I donít think we are going to leave until the 15th so it should work out just about perfect.
