    Late Sept?

Hey all, I will be in the area at the end of Sept (25-29 ish) and I was wondering whether the Crested Butte area is still good to ride then, specifically 401. I'm sure it'll be chilly mornings and evenings, but no snow yet? Thanks for the input, I'm really looking forward to it.

Snow will certainly be a possibility, however, if any is on the ground it will more than likely be very thin and confined to northern aspects. You would still be able to ride unless snow just completely fries your brain or something.

I don't mind the cold/snow, as long as the trail is still ride-able! It won't turn to mush?

If you get a thaw cycle after an extended period of cold weather it will be mushy. That is the case where ever you deal with colder temps and precip. Ride early before things have a chance to thaw or hope for breezy weather.
