Headed to Steamboat tomorrow - Need a good 15 mile ride from Downtown

Sounds like Emerald is a good option, but pretty easy and some descriptions give the impression it's pretty choked with tourists. Thanks. b.

don't know what your definition of "choked with tourists" is?
i rarely think emerald gets crowded.
if you're set on avoiding it then i'd suggest spring creek (out and back) or hot springs, mad creek, red dirt (requires some road riding to get out there).

More like choked with locals, Emerald would be your best bet. It may be busy, but everyone is polite, yields to the uphill riders, and its the best trails you will ride if you don't want to add distance, or goto mtWerner for DH thrills. Spring creek is nice as well, but its one trail out and back(4 mi climb), so more traffic, hikers, and less quality than you will see on emerald. What time will you ride? Emerald on weekdays is "busy" 9-11, and again after work, 5- dark. But never as busy as anything you ride on the front range.
