How are conditions out there right now? I am thinking about escaping the Front Range and all the snow we are getting

    snark7 is correct

Record lows overnight but absolutely perfect conditions. Endoed on Gunny last Friday so nursing a rib injury. Should be back on the trails this weekend.

    Still the same in Fruita?

Thinking about skipping skiing and riding the bike instead. Any snow on the ground out that way?

Looks like highs in the mid 40's. Not too bad I guess.

Should be fine, had a little snow this week. But it's sunny and chilly - mud is unlikely.

Got 1 good lap in at highline Sunday. Second lap it warmed up a bit and softened up too much on the shaded areas. Turned back after about 1/4 lap.

I'm also wondering about the conditions, not even worth skiing right now.

Rode Marys, Lions and Troybuilt, yesterday. Some snow, but not muddy. Cold, but not so much that you want to stay home.

    My advice, Git Sum!

Are lunch loops good and dried out or I do I need to go early when it is frozen?

    Marys Loop was great today

rode out and back from east end no areas of mud or really even any wet areas, i thought there would be some after snow yesterday, but was great.

Rode free lunch and pucker up saturday. Horsethief Sunday. Still a decent bit of snow on the lunch loops from earlier in the season but plenty of dry riding to be had. Free Lunch was holding snow on anything N to W facing making some of transitions a little shall we say...puckered. Stay clear of the clay.

Loma-Mack area was almost completely dry. Just little patches here and there in the gullys and completely shaded areas.

    18rd is good too.

Did Edge loop east to Edge cutoff, went west up Chutes, then did Joes and back up for a full run on Kessell's Sunday. Got snowed on a bit, but trail was in great shape. Just a little buildup on the tires while it was snowing.

Didn't have to wash the bike which is more than I can say for last weekend at LL.

Anyone done the trails recently at Kokopelli/Loma with generally north or west facing aspects - e.g. Moore Fun, Mack Ridge, Troy Built? If so, how is the snow cover on these?

rode moore fun on the 5th of janruary. the uphill is still snowy but the down is pretty dry with a few snowy spots. did not make it to mack ridge or troy built. but would assume similar conditions.

Weather was a non issue in the Grand Valley this weekend. It's still dry, just a bit cooler than last week.

Bean Man, You've made my week.
I'm mired in Crested Butte and desperate for some ride time in the sun.
Anyone else want to meet in GJ/Fruita Wed/Thur?

    Bean Man spoke the truth.
    Rode GJ/Loma Wed/Thur.
It was great. No go on the Loma ridge trails (as you'd expect) all else is good.
In GJ I only rode below the Widow Maker and it was all good w/ small patches of slip here and there.
If you are on the fence- Go.

The dog and I did Marys and Horsethief on Thursday. I broke the bolt holding my seat on the initial climb into Marys so Stan and I had to go into GJ and get a new seat post before riding the loop.

My dog loves Horsethief. On most rides he heels behind me early, on this ride he knows where he's going and doesn't need me to pace him.
