    Camping advice for Western Colorado

The wife and I are planning a road trip from San Diego to Denver and plan to camp along the way.

Our first stop is going to be in Zion, UT, and then we want to head east to Denver, but I am thinking I don't want to go all the way in one day. I know Colorado has some great mountain areas, where would you suggest stopping to camp for a night before we finish the final leg into Denver area?

I won't be bringing my MTB with me so proximity to bike parks is not important, but perhaps good hiking trails would be nice.

Thanks for any info you can provide!

Colorado National Monument in Grand Junction is cool if you are not looking for a mountain bike trail

Thanks for the tip, looks really cool, and it is the perfect halfway spot from Zion to Denver.

Something to keep in mind... Depending on when you are passing through, the temps may be more comfortable just a little bit further East on I70. Camping in the summer months around these parts can make for a rough nights sleep.
