    Breck Trail Maps

Heading to Breck the first week in August for a week of riding. I have checked out the town of Breckenridge trail map. Are there any other maps that would be available or shops in the area that might have some good trail info. Renting a condo downtown and would like to sample some CT riding and other AM trail riding in the area. Or anyone have any suggestions or would like to meet up for some riding and beers let me know. My wife and me will be coming from Asheville, NC and are experienced trail riders.

    thanks,

    Brian

Buy the Lattitude 40 trail map for Summit County. Most bike shops should have it.

There's the lat 40 and a couple others, but that map that the town puts out is IMO, the best for trails right in the Breck area. Tey are supposed to be putting out an updated version some time soon but I haven't seen it yet.

Not sure what you mean by "AM". The trails in Summit are smooth, buff, rock filled, root filled, steep and not so steep, but there's not a lot of super technical stuff, at least by MTB video porn standards that what a lot of people think of as "AM" (then again, I really don't know what "AM" really means). The town of Breck open space and trails dept seems to be on a monster berm building crusade on a lot of their trails and there are a couple "FR" type parks with man made stunts.

Heavier bikes AM with slack angles and 6" of travel are a bit overkill for Summit IMO; if you do any of the longer loops you will be doing a lot of climbing.

ZRM knows all things Summit Cnty and the local town map is one of the best maps I've ever seen. $15 at most shops or the downtown Breck visitors center (which you should go to to learn some cool history of the town). I think they are trying to unload the inventory of the current maps before the new ones come out- maybe they will mark down the price (??).

That being said, the one you buy from the visitors center is printed on the nice waterproof paper

The Breck Town map has the entire area on one page and section maps on the back page.

Well you listed CT so that will send you to the Tiger Rd section of the Colorado Trail. Up Tiger Rd or you can avoid some road by using the new Galena Ditch trail that runs above it (but it's new enough it might not be listed on any of the maps except maybe the online version). Tiger Rd to West Ridge then CT all the way back to HWY9. You can ride it from town & be prepared for a big climb from Tiger Rd to the top of West Ridge and jeep/ATV dust on Tiger Rd if it has not rained.

Some of the local town of Breck trails are short and best when linked together- create a ride linking the Flumes/Sidedoor/Minnie Mine/X10U8/Sally Barber Mine Rd >Barney Ford>Moonstone > Carter Park area.
Once you look over the map you'll see several more nearby all of which can be combined for a great ride from town.

For eats I'm not sure but there are places everywhere, I'm a veggie and I haven't had food in Breck since My Thai disappeared.
