The BLM is looking for a campground host for the North Fruita Desert/18 Rd. Campground
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Grand Junction Field Office is looking for a campground host at the North Fruita Desert Campground. The office hopes to have a host on site beginning March 30 and ending at the end of May. By June the heat has typically chased everyone to higher elevations. A host will be needed again in the fall, Sept - Oct. The campground is located amongst pinion and juniper trees in the high desert of western Colorado, north of Fruita, Colorado. The campground has 35 sites that are fully occupied on weekends in the spring and fall primarily by mountain bikers from around the region. The campground is primitive, no water or trash pick-up is provided to the public. There are six pit toilets spread throughout the campground and each site has a picnic table, fire ring, and designated parking. This is a busy campground with lots of additional day use cyclist.
