2013 - ride to work day

    Who participated?

Used to ride to work a fair amount by haven't in three years since I switched jobs. Was always worried about the route, and now I know why as I almost got run over by an F150 trying to exit the parkway onto river road. Might be taking the bike path home!

I would like to ride to work more, I used to enjoy it. My biggest problem is I am out working in customer offices all day and there's no shower at work. Even riding in at a fairly casual pace I was working up a sweat. Thankfully I am stuck in the office training all week so I would only potentially offend my co-workers.

I'd have to come up with a way to take a reasonable "sink bath". I even had deodorant, etc at the office today and just never felt clean.

We make a big deal of it here at Osprey Packs. Great breakfast and prizes from our industry friends for all who ride. Everyone then signs a pledge to ride either 10, 20, or 30 more times between now and 10/1. Everyone that fulfills gets an awesome prize package. Participation was awesome with almost every single team member riding!

I never ridden to work but I remember having to go to the store after a ride and didn't have access to a shower so pack along baby wipes and do the "hoe bath" before changing into dryer clothes. Not as good as full shower but beats smelling like the funky monster.
I don't use Strava. Don't need an application to tell me I am slow because I already know.

I rode to work that day. Left East Orchard Mesa, 38 road,
at 5AM with my lights and returned late that night as well. It's just too hot and too far to commute from EOM to 19 Road very often.
