18 Rd. Trail Repair Weekend
November 14 - November 15
Spring rain storms were hard on the local trails. The 18 road area was hit hard by some large storms that changed the landscape. By August it had gotten so bad that Timoni, Manager of Over the Edge Sports called COPMOBA and the BLM for help.
It has been three months now, and the area is showing signs of improvement, the deep wash outs have been filled, Trail beds have been restored, drainages have been cut and some of the washed out switchbacks have been rebuilt. The job is far from over, and we could use your help.
It's time to winterize the trails. Our goal is to get the area through the winter so we can start again next season. Many of the erosion ditches will not last through winter and need to be filled. Many drainages need to be cut and more work needs to be done on the Chutes and Ladders trail.
Join us Saturday and Sunday, November 14 & 15 to finish the season with a much needed maintenance work weekend. We will meet at the top of the hill (Upper Parking Lot) at 9:00 AM. The weather is uncertain so bring clothing for changing conditions, water, gloves, heavy shoes and something to share for lunch and dinner. We will have a camp site for the few hardy folks that plan to stay the night! Join US!
We plan to have a good time, and If we get some work done..that would be good too!
