Is Winter Park intermediate XC friendly?

I have a friend in town who is an intermediate XC rider but out of shape. Would Winter Park be fun for an XC rider?

Yes if you hit the trails off the resort property. Lots of really fun trails up there when you get out and explore. Check out the Rendezvous Rd trails on on the other side of the road. They are allot of fun and not as much climbing as the stuff on the park side. But you can hit the trails on the park side too. If hes not a downhiller I totally recommend climbing the fire rd and hitting Green World back down. Its a total blast on an XC bike.

He'll be fine, I am an out of shape guy and I love it up there! Head more towards the Fraser trails.

I am wondering in particular about the resort's lift serviced trails. Can we take the lifts up and take XC flow trails back down?

Green World on a 5" travel trail bike is a riot! It flows very well at med speeds! I'm also thinking Long Trail would also be good on a smaller trail/enduro bike. If they have something a little bigger like a Nomad, it kills it on Rainmaker!

If you ride lifts you'll never get in shape.

HA! I've been xc racing for almost 25 years and DH raced for five, I've never been more wooped than doing DH, maybe I worked too hard at it but it was and still is a full body/aerobic workout for me.
I know your joking but a lot of people think DH is BS because you not riding up for your down, I say BS to them !
