    Will Winter Park be ready?

The Winter Park Hill Climb is on June 11. Do they plow the road if it's snowpacked? Tons of snow in the mountains at this time.

They've plowed it in years past. I'm more worried about Teva games in two weeks, where we're supposed to race on singletrack. I heard a rumour they might have to dig some of the trail out by hand at Vail. Big snow years make for late starts to the high-country mtb season.

Rumor around town is cancellation of the cc . We did get a ton of rain yesterday and the sun is out today.

You don't even ski. That would ruin your summer.

If anything, the hill climb should be postponed, not cancelled. At least, that's what they did last year.

Poured rain all day yesterday and last night. Arrowhead is almost melted out and the lower slopes at Vail are brown. Keep your fingers crossed and hope for sun. I think the Slopestyle venue is almost clear.

Do you think they will just change the course so it doesn't go so high up Vail Mountain?

Given that Winter Park and Whistler are majority owned by the same company I can only hope they take the same approach to getting trails open.

Abasin, 99" base, 3" of fresh and still snowing. I bet they make it well into July.

I saw them digging out the mini golf course at beaver creek today too. I think it's because those minigolfers have the big cash!

I had to call winter park on an unrelated issue and the customer relations gal told me that june 11 is still a go. She said they may pull a kestone-esque mid mountain opener but apparently its on. Btw...keysone-esque was my word not hers .

Whats the word on keystone, last i heard they had memorial day hopes????

Rode the WP Hill Climb course today to the top. It was quite dry and has been plowed since the area shut down a few weeks ago. The issue is not snow pack, but day to day snow fall. Looks like we are in a dry pattern for the next few days! This link will take you to the WP web cams, and the one called "Sunspot" is the best indicator of what the worst conditions on the climb are likely to be. Although that shot is of a road not part of the course, it is just off the course and almost at the top of the climb.

I was in the valley last weekend, I walked half way up the mountain at Sol Vista - it looked to be mostly good or melting off fast. Winter Park on the other hand....yikes. Still covered in snow! Furthermore, when we left on Monday it was snowing.

Hope to see some reports this week on trails that are dry that we can hit after the hill climb! *crossing fingers*

    Latest update from WP.

Good news - Bike Race/Hill Climb is ON - road is dry.

Bad news - Trestle Bike Park will have to delay opening until June 18th. Temps broke 80 degrees today so things are melting fast but not fast enough. Crew and patrol will be busy digging for the next 12 days.

If anything changes we will update this thread.

In related news - information about volunteering at the Trestle Bike Skills Park in Denver will be in the press this weekend. The skills park (located at Barnum Park North) is under construction and slated for a mid/late-July opening.
