    Wicked Crash at White Ranch

I figured someone would enjoy seeing what happened this morning at White Ranch...

Dumb mistake at the end of Shorthorn = some pretty wicked bleeding from a 1/4 inch deep hole in my knee!! See attached pictures of PAIN!

By the way, it couldn't be a better day at white ranch. Just enough moisture to keep the dust/sand down and not too many riders.

    Yeah. What he said.*

Reading the thread title I was expecting action shots not gay porn (which I guess aren't necessarily mutually exclusive of eachother, but I don't want that kind of action shot, I want mountain biking action shots.)

    Nice new 575 though.

*Unless you used your shirt as a tourniquet to stop from bleeding to death out your skinned knee.

I think "Wicked" crashing should be restricted to New Jersey riding.

The only way to rate a cut is how many stitches. Of course, if you posted the OP 5 hrs ago, you might still be in the ER.

Geez, give the kid a break! I know the section he wrecked on very well and it's always a standing still crash onto sharp stuff (for me -- when I attempt it). At least he tried it.

Do yourself a favor kid and don't bother with shorthorn. Ain't worth it since you have to push your bike up from the ravine anyway. Stupid and terribly constructed fall-line trail that begs for a complete re-route..

had a friend go to the ER at Apex today apparently. Not sure what he did (moron was riding Apex alone) but his wife told me he "broke his shoulder" which doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me, but apparently some guys up there helped him down and our friend drove out there and took him to the ER.

but since we are apparently into showing pictures of blood, here is my leg after a wreck of mine at Jones Downhill on Saturday when I took a nice fall in the 3 inches of gravel. Hell of a ride though (being my first shuttle experience. man was it fun):

Sorry, I dont have any with my shirt off.

well, him doing it alone paired with his skill level wasnt the smartest thing to do. I tend to not ride certain trails if I am going to be riding alone. but then again, we;re not that great

Maybe if he had a real bike instead of that piece of **** Yeti! Those bikes are such crap I wouldn't ride one if someone gave it to me...next time I see that orange poo on the trail I'll be sure to lay a steamer on it for good measure...

Poorly designed, yes. But most of Longhorn was a trail long before any of us, and maybe before anyone, ever threw a leg over a thing called a "mountain bike." And when we did start mountain biking, JeffCo Open Space never even thought about banning bikes from riding Longhorn. So give it a little credit for being a county-owned and maintained trail that would look different if it were built today, but was a great hike before anyone ever rolled over it.

Besides, riding Longhorn all the way from the top lot to the "new" trail (can't remember it's real name- Whipperwill?) is a lot of fun on a 5" travel bike. I remember riding the stretch that Shorthorn bypasses on a rigid Stumpjumper wearing Chuck Taylors and gym shorts with a jock strap. I swore to never do that to myself again. It wasn't untuil last year, my friend talked me into giving it another try and it was a blast. So there's a hike a bike straight out of that gulley- big deal, it's short, it's uncrowded.
