    Wicked Crash at White Ranch

I figured someone would enjoy seeing what happened this morning at White Ranch...

Dumb mistake at the end of Shorthorn = some pretty wicked bleeding from a 1/4 inch deep hole in my knee!! See attached pictures of PAIN!

By the way, it couldn't be a better day at white ranch. Just enough moisture to keep the dust/sand down and not too many riders.

    Yeah. What he said.*

Reading the thread title I was expecting action shots not gay porn (which I guess aren't necessarily mutually exclusive of eachother, but I don't want that kind of action shot, I want mountain biking action shots.)

    Nice new 575 though.

*Unless you used your shirt as a tourniquet to stop from bleeding to death out your skinned knee.

I think "Wicked" crashing should be restricted to New Jersey riding.

The only way to rate a cut is how many stitches. Of course, if you posted the OP 5 hrs ago, you might still be in the ER.

Geez, give the kid a break! I know the section he wrecked on very well and it's always a standing still crash onto sharp stuff (for me -- when I attempt it). At least he tried it.

Do yourself a favor kid and don't bother with shorthorn. Ain't worth it since you have to push your bike up from the ravine anyway. Stupid and terribly constructed fall-line trail that begs for a complete re-route..

had a friend go to the ER at Apex today apparently. Not sure what he did (moron was riding Apex alone) but his wife told me he "broke his shoulder" which doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me, but apparently some guys up there helped him down and our friend drove out there and took him to the ER.

but since we are apparently into showing pictures of blood, here is my leg after a wreck of mine at Jones Downhill on Saturday when I took a nice fall in the 3 inches of gravel. Hell of a ride though (being my first shuttle experience. man was it fun):

Sorry, I dont have any with my shirt off.

well, him doing it alone paired with his skill level wasnt the smartest thing to do. I tend to not ride certain trails if I am going to be riding alone. but then again, we;re not that great

Poorly designed, yes. But most of Longhorn was a trail long before any of us, and maybe before anyone, ever threw a leg over a thing called a "mountain bike." And when we did start mountain biking, JeffCo Open Space never even thought about banning bikes from riding Longhorn. So give it a little credit for being a county-owned and maintained trail that would look different if it were built today, but was a great hike before anyone ever rolled over it.

Besides, riding Longhorn all the way from the top lot to the "new" trail (can't remember it's real name- Whipperwill?) is a lot of fun on a 5" travel bike. I remember riding the stretch that Shorthorn bypasses on a rigid Stumpjumper wearing Chuck Taylors and gym shorts with a jock strap. I swore to never do that to myself again. It wasn't untuil last year, my friend talked me into giving it another try and it was a blast. So there's a hike a bike straight out of that gulley- big deal, it's short, it's uncrowded.

Ahhh...give the kid a break. We've all had our first crash and we all felt a little more bad ass showing off the scar. This guy's only flaw was he did it on the internet where everyone can read.

Can't believe you ran off that super studly guy with the huge gash in his shin I think that's par for the course on any ride we do on fun trails for at least one person if we're riding hard

That's just it. If any of you were "experts", you'd have more class and wouldn't be giving the kid a hard time.

Shame on all of you. Until any of you can claim mountain biking as your "profession", lay off the ridicule and act somewhat sub-human and not like elitist roadie snobs.

    Shame on me?

Who the **** are you? Bill Clinton?

Go wag your finger somewhere else. Church is good for types like you, all "holier than thou"

I am not holier than anyone, I'm just human. I guess your not.

I don't know if you have kids, but how would you like if I laughed in his/her face when he/she falls? Don't be such an a$$. Now go ride your bike, bad boy.

The ribbing he is getting is a little excessive, but on the other hand....the pic of him flexing is one that I would have left out...that is an automatic flame magnet, especially for a first post. I doubt he left entirely....with only 6 posts and that being one of them, the smart thing for him to do is scratch that account and start a new one...and maybe grow some hair on his chest while he is at it...

No need to scratch the account for the 15 or so sh!theads in this forum that had to be negative. They are that way to everyone, so why change? It's so easy to be a big man/woman when you are sitting behind a keyboard.

Well, better for them to learn to laugh it off. They certainly won't learn "shaming" others from me.

Not proclaiming to be some uber-elitist mtb monk here, bud, but get off your high horse and learn that OPINIONS don't matter.

Once you care what other people think, you will be imprisoned forever by the constraints of their thoughts. Good luck with that.

And FWIW, my kid laughs it off when he falls, and he is only 20mos.

If he just keeps going with the current account, doesn't that show more internet fortitude? Come, look at lylecumbstorm or whatever, he's still posting after that poo storm of guns, beer, and hookers

If the fall was like the OP took I'd say have at it. Then again, they're tough.

I can't tell if schnauz is being serious or not...

All I've seen in this thread is some good natured ribbing.

If you're serious, schnoz, lighten up a little.

I thought that clip was hillarious. If I was on scene when somthing like that happened, then that might be different. Watching a video does not = laughing in their face. I watch americas funniest home videos with the whole family (kids included), we love it. There is somthing funny about seeing someone else biff on video. Dont take it too seriously schnauzers.

    Relax, try this

If anything he will learn a little discretion when posting on the internet. And yes, more respect for sticking around.

Seriously that's something my 5 year old cousin would shrug off, I certainly wouldn't pay loads of attention to it if it were me. It's your avg digger He's a kid come on here posting pics of him flexing up his "muscles" and BooHooing about a little cut
