Turns out that five years of not mountain biking, really makes one strive to get back to it.

You bet we do - I haven't met one who really likes it - let alone loves. I have meet one who, with enough groveling, has been able to tolerate it... but it's just not the same..

Heaven forbid! You can't just rush a girl into a thing like that; she'll think it's going to hurt.

First, just get her comfortable with going down, that's step one. She's got to *enjoy* it, she's *got* to want to do it all day. Then once she's showing some promise there, show her something a little rougher, she how she likes that. Now don't get to rough to quick, she might freak! If she doesn't like a bit of the old (chain) slap when she's going down, then you might as well give up right then and there. But even then, if she decides she'd like to try, she'll probability expect you to pay for it.

Ah - if only it were that simple, several have not been adverse to a finger or two - all have been adverse to anything more. Why am I discussing this on MTBR?

If you hook it up - ask her if I can borrow her bike every now and then.

Personally I was hoping she'd be happy with 5. Really more my style.

I suppose though if she'd let me borrow one of her toys I'd be happy to strap it on for her enjoyment.

I've used the technique called the shocker, i believe it has alot to do with rear suspension and works great. but only on certain rides.
