    whats horsetooth like??

    curious about the horsetooth area, never been there, kind of new to front range. some idea of what to expect, length of rides, elevation gain, rocky/smooth, different options, where to find a map,etc.. thanks in advance

    it's fun, feels a little more technical than other trails sometimes... You can go big or small as it connects to Lory State Park also.

    I'd also like to add that Larimer county manages in a style much more like JeffCo, in which they value recreation as much as preservation, as opposed to Boulder County. The variety of trails is deep, and everything is multi use. Makes a few thousand acre park seem much bigger. Hall Ranch is about twice the size of Horsetooth, yet it always feels tons more crowded. More trails at Horsetooth allows users to spread out more. Impact on the trails is significantly less. Feels more backcountry and less "popular park."
