    What nerve...

You were expecting a yield rant weren't ya?

But really this is a "Best things to put in the donation envelope to a front range ant-bike charity" thread.

An organization that helped influence Boulder's decision to not allow bikes on the West Trail Study area sent me a letter today asking for a donation. Oh the irony.

    Photobucket

Any suggestions for things to put in the envelope?

One thing is for sure, I'm filling out the "In Honor/ Memory of_______________" with an appropriate reply.

I'll bet COMBA might donate a bunch of stickers for that envelope.

A nice note saying you have made a donation to BMA in their honor, and you will make a new donation with each solicitation you get from them.

    me too

I got one too. I do not recognize a single name on the letterhead, whether directors or trustees. Not even Vance Martin, the Prez. Maybe I will drop a note telling them I belong to IMBA, COMBA and BMA.

I wonder which pro-cycling group sold your names and addresses to this anti-cycling group?
They can keep funded selling mailing lists back and forth- o the irony.

    No kidding...

So ironic is, I'm betting it's the city of Boulder itself, which I do volunteer bike patrol for. They have a lot of volunteer activities including raptor watching, seed collection etc and they probably gave a comprehensive list to this organization.

Jimmy, what do you think caused you to get a letter?

not sure why, but it is addressed to my full, legal name, like from voter registration, not from any magazine or membership. Their pitch sounds reasonable enough, but if they really wanted to protect the West TSA, which they brag about in the mailing, they should have worked to ban hikers too.

I received the same letter and sent the following email to info@wild.org

I received your soliciation in the mail today. I find your argument to be totally disingenuous, since hikers in the west TSA have been responsible
for 10s of miles of social trails and hikers have a significantly lower rate of on-trail compliance than do cyclists, according to Boulder OSMP's own
research. Allowing hikers free reign in the west TSA is the worst possible way to protect this fragile ecosystem.

Not only am I disappointed that an organization whose broad goals I support would use such a terrible example to advance their cause, but I am
reminded that it's time to renew my Boulder Mountainbike Alliance membership, vote against any PLAN-Boulder endorsed candidates for any
office, and send IMBA a nice contribution. The BMA will surely benefit from this solicitation and for this I am sure they will be grateful.

I saw two bald eagles today. One in a tree above Highline Canal watching my dogs & I pass under him and what I would suppose to be his/her mate sitting in a nest...at the top of a powerline tower feeding Lockheed Martin.
A man must have enemies and places he is not welcome. In the end we are not only defined by our friends but those against us.

Good note back to them, E! If everyone who received that "spam" did the same, it just might make them realize that mountain bikers really do have formidable influence and might, just might, be a force they need to reckon with!
