I know you guys probably are tired of my ranting about the ladies riding horses at the AFA, but I met 5 of them head-on today while climbing up out of the creek.
The first lady was riding at more of a gallop coming downhill at me. We met around a blind corner. I ended up in the ditch. She warned me there were "3 or 4" others. I asked if they were running their horses also. She corrected me and said they were "gaiting". Well.... Whatever lady. 3000lbs of beast coming 15 mph downhill at you sucks. (I've owned horses growing up. It was a gallop)
I pulled off the trail at that point and waited.
Rider #2 came a minute later, "gaiting", and her horse was so spooked when it saw me that it ran a good 20 feet off the opposite side of the trail.
I decided to pull my video cam out at that point to document my death.
Riders #3 and #4 showed up a few minutes later. They were chatting and not riding so fast, but still going at a good "trot" I guess is what you would call it. They saw my video cam and slowed down even more.
I decided to go ahead and ride and then I ran into rider #5 probably 5 minutes later. He was trotting downhill also.
Just posting this as a warning to anyone riding between the stables and the top of the climb going into the NF.
Not sure if they had ridden the whole loop, it looked like it by the amount of crap on the trail, but they definitely were ripping the trail up and tossing rocks around on the way down. I'm not super pissed off about the ordeal b/c I know we as a group create fear in other groups.
But be warned. A horse galloping downhill can stumble at any time. You don't want to be in front of him when he does...
