Tundra'd Inclines Toward Starlight - TITS! full moon alpine ride

In order to get out of the floods, we need to seek higher ground. Gettin HIGH at night sounds like the best way.
Plan: Jones Pass as an out and back, maybe a shuttle if we have the logistics, maybe just get a little high. (This all depends on if the road up still exists). Meet at Mammoth lot at 6PM (on Thursday the 19th), lights charged, although I'm hoping the moon provides some good lighting. Get HIGH, and enjoy some frosted barley pops apres bike.

I plan to be there* but can't leave Lucent/C470 til 7pm.
    Any other late-goers wanna carpool?

*Unless my parents still need my help by then getting things back in order in Estes.

Bummer - Hope all is alright. We go to Estes 4-5 times a year and it sucked seeing very familiar stuff under water.

    I believe I can fly
I believe I can Touch the sky....

    Pfft...to hell with that...

    Lets go

Bright is the moon high in starlight
Chill is the air cold as steel tonight
    We shift
    Call of the wild
    Fear in your eyes
    It's later than you realized

Shape shift nose to the wind
    Shape shift feeling I've been
    Move swift all senses clean
Earth's gift back to the meaning of life

Yeah! Goat's in and feeling the wolf within!

Snotel site on Jones shows 0.0 inches.
Also the traffic cam atop Berthoud shows no evidence of snow

and its gonna be sun sun sun all week.

I'm more worried about the condition of the road up there.

I believe I am in. Can transport up to 4 bikes in relative discomfort on the Jeep.

How does one out and back Jones Pass?

I'm up for adventures, both high and low. Green Mountain is rideable now if the group consensus is to bail on Jones.

I don't think there is enough snow to abort the objective. We can keep an eye on the Berthoud cam above.
The weathergirl says very light showers today, but a clear/calm evening. Full moons happen only, once in a full moon.

Cold was a factor. When we started out I saw 37 on the car thermometer at 12,000 ft, when we finished it had dropped to 32 at 10,000. Over the first several ridges I couldn't feel my toes at all, and I was getting worried that the gloves I'd brought - while windproof - were not going to cut it.

Then it all went away, the core came up to temp, fingers and toes came back, nothing remained but sweet, tacky singletrack, the light of the moon, and amazing views. This was one for the history books, 100%. One of my all time favorite TITS rides.

I consider myself lucky to have met you guys. Who DOES this?

The pix do not do justice to the views we saw during that ride!
Full moon, no clouds (except those below us), negligible wind, moisty fun trails, and a great group of folks...so chuffed!
