Trails Inducing True Smiles!! BC T.I.T.S. Night Ride!!

So thursday is a no go(for me) but looking at this, Wednesday is looking real good. Prob just for this week it will be on Wed. but many said that works so we are going to the land that is buffalo creek!

There were a few things that truly moved me on friday at 3 sisters and one of them was friends, new and old! To see people smile is a beautiful thing and one thing these silly rides i started back in September have done is produce smiles. Not by anything i have done (well maybe once or twice crashing down gm in a blizzard) but just being on bicycles and hanging and riding. Thank you guys!

If you want to carpool up we'll meet at The Fort and leave by 5:30 we are usually riding by 6:15 or so from the ranger station. Not sure if mr. Amoeba aka: Scar will be there but maybe? You can chime in Jay. There are a couple demos promised I will get those handled!

I was digging that loop we did last week and would be up for that same one! What do you think Dan and the mrs. you guys up for that on the tandem again?

Leaving my place at 5pm in Lakewood. 470 gets pretty crazy at that time but I hope to be there about 5:30-5:45pm. What time could you start?

Actually...good question. If its early, I might be in for that. You plan on starting with the dirt road or parking at a trail head?

Leaving for Fuego de los Angeles right after the working gig on Thursday, so gonna try and make a BC ride with ya'll on Wednesday. Loads to do before I skip town though, don't hate if I need to bail.
The older I get, the faster I was.

Dirt Road. Not worth the extra driving to cut out the road. I don't mind starting on a dirt road..Its scenic and a good 6 mile warm up. Least that's what I remember...haven't been down there since 2004 when I was here visiting my sister.

The earlier, the better, anytime works though. With the tree situation down there, what is the planned route. No need to do fireroad or extra drive to IC, I have a starting point that skips both.

Sorry folks, but I am going to have to miss this week. Took Thursday and Friday off from work last week and am going to be paying for it this week. I currently have our production line shut down this morning, good times.

jenamin - PBR me! tells me you want to try out an Amoeba. We will get you covered, I will hand one off to PBR me! to bring with him.

cbrock450 - can you hand off the bar mount from last week to PBR me? If not, no biggie.

    Just to clarify:

    This guy

    mge bandit.jpg

is going on some lame ride thursday up waterton on some trail named colorado, that probably does not suck. He is taking some of the normal people who don't want to go to bc on wed!

so t.i.t.s. ride is at BC on wed.(for this week) I know where i'll be!! Take your chances!

no just a couple people text me confused about where the ride was! i guess they didn't really read through

Yeah, the Waterton Area just sucks!

Me, on the CT in Waterton back in 2004 on what's that? A 5 n 5 full suspension.

    Hey All,
Just a reminder - Waterton Canyon closes at sundown. And, since some of the rangers live in the canyon, patrols are common after sunset (speaking from experience here!).

If you're planning to roll around the IC area after dark, I would be armed for kitties. I hear they like the taste of goat. I hear people around Roxborough area spot big cats in their backyards all the time.

I think Waterton is some special case water-district thing on it's own rules, they need to monitor and maintain the dams back there.

    aint gonna lie!

Turnout has been pretty weak lately! Chad and i drove up to bc to find spike waiting for us. A few bailed due to work and other functions and that is understandable! As we sat there debating and more debating the drizzle picked up to a light rain and more clouds building! So we made an executive descision head towards sunshine!! so we made our way to apex, and about a nearly 7:00 start, time to roll!! DOH! guess its the time shuttlers are heading down for the last two runs or so!! most were ok, one guy on a yeti was way cool and pulled over to let us climb. So we did the pick n sledge whatever grubstake and up to enchanted and down. Just pretty much glad to be pedlin. Then made our way to IW and met up with Fulltrucker and TC for a couple cold ones! Pretty nice way to end a Wed. night t.i.t.s. ride!

one question: why would you ride apex without a helmet and be in your 40's???

Still amazes me when I see anyone without a helmet. Coming back from riding Deer Creek Two days ago and even saw a roadie going up the canyon without one ... deathwish

Was up on GM last night 8-10:30 - only saw one other rider ... must be the economy

I spent the afternoon packing for Angel Fire and messing with the trailer lights. They're pretty sketchy, finally figured out the adapter is bad. Sometimes I'd get running lights, sometimes I'd get blinkers, usually got brake lights though and that's the important one

One answer from the old guy: Back in my day we pedaled up Apex both ways into the wind while it rained!

Really, no helment = stupid. People ride 80mph on a motorcycle without a helmet. They're just waiting for natural selection.
You have just been mentally Rick Roll'd. Yup you're thinking about it right now aren't you? Don't fight it.

I don't understand the "and be in your 40's" part of the question?
But as far as riding without your helmet - I would do it if I drove a ways (>1/2 hour maybe), got to the trailhead and realized the helmet was at home.
Maybe that's what happened for him?

To answer the exact question though, I would never ride Apex without my helmet because I never have to drive to ride Apex! I would have to be even more air-headed than I am to forget my helmet while riding from home!!!!!!! Have forgotten my gloves riding from home though, and my water!!!

I have left my house on my roadbike and forgot to put on a helmet, and kept riding (mostly 470 trail and Chatfield so not that bad for car risk) a couple times. I wear a bandanna riding so did not notice on a hot day that helmet wasn't there. I have never MTB'd without a helmet.

I try every day not to be in my 40's but it really hasn't worked yet. Still trying...

    Seriously?

You guys really drove all the way back down just because it was raining!? What kind of mountain bikers are you guys

Oh, you living in a trailer now? What happened to the invite to the hut before you moved

Well yah we pretty much were pu$$y's about the rain and it wasn't even raining that hard just bailed......it was more fun to claim our way up apex sheesh! mistake

oh well chalk it up as one of those my vajayjay got the better of me!

As far as that 40's thing on the no helmet guy comment, that was the first thing that popped in my head as he was skidding falling off the trail trying to avoid hitting me. "why is this 40 some yr old guy riding with no helmet?" at least he didnt hit me!

Well, we bailed on riding indian creek because of the waterton closure. Instead we decided to head out to BC. Our plan was to head out from the lot on 543 at 5:15. We had some delays heading out and didnt actually get on the trail til around 6:00 and we were hoping to end up bumping into you TITS guys and meeting you in person!

Bummer you bailed! The rain only sprinkled on us at the very beginning, perhaps the route we took kept us out of the rain because some of the trails were wetter than others. NONE were muddy and it was a beautiful night ride!

We rode the green mountain trail for the first time... oh man was that fun! (my buddy involuntarily hugged a tree on the fast descent so he isnt as enthusiastic as I was).

    We did 543 -> ShingleMill -> CT -> Green Mountain -> Redskin -> Gashouse -> Charlies -> Sandy wash -> 543

    Great times!

Yeah, the tree had the branches cut off before we got there, but there was only a narrow line between the top of the tree and a large rock. The tree hooked my friends derailleur and took him down, so we did our best to move it out of the way. There is plenty of room to ride now and the tree is now pretty much parallel to the trail right there.

The loop me and "this guy" did definitely did not suck. Waterton closed as expected so started elsewhere. Started about 6:30 and finished around 10:30. Drizzled the whole time and ground was wet. Did the IC loop and ended up riding 21.5 miles, 6010' elev. gain. We each had one crash each and MGE uprooted a tree on his. I had bad leg cramps about halfway through and kept getting worse, but MGE was going strong. Indian Creek is fun in daylight, but there's just something about riding the narrow, tight and twisty singletrack through dense forest in the darkness.

I'm wondering if that's the same dude we chicas saw on Monday night when we were sessioning up Apex? I actually had the same question as you when he almost hit me as he was descending and we were climbing. Crazy - ness!
