South Table, Marshell Mesa, Green Mtn, Bear Creek lake Park (super easy).

Also, COMBA has their beginner rides the 2nd Thursday of the month; so we'll be doing Bear Creek on June 11th.

Marshall Mesa + Dowdy Draw + Brook Springs makes for a excellent beginner trail system.

Where in Golden does he live? I live close to the trailhead to N. Table Mesa and climbing up there in the mornings is just glorious with the sun coming up over the city.

There are a number of double track trails that are great for beginners with a nice little single track side trail that has some fun slickrock sections and great for learning singletrack.

The climb up can be aerobically challenging but isn't technical.

Its great for a pre-work ride around an hour to see much of the available trails.

Yeah, I need to change my name to BobGolden, its been a while since I moved here.

Then I would say South Table Mountain, and Green Mountain.
They'd both be real close for him.
He could ride to both easily.
I'll send you a PM in a bit for info on where the closest trailheads to him would be for those 2 trails.

I live a couple of blocks from the S Table Mtn trailhead and I've been trying to hit it fairly frequently, especially since I need to get my neglected riding legs back. I can show him around if he's interested in riding with someone at a no-pressure pace.

When did you move from Park City? I lived there from '79 - '84. It's changed a "wee bit" since then!

Blah! I don't even like hiking up the west trail.

If he is in the Mills area, I say South Table. NREL visitor center trailhead, when you get to the choice of left or straight, go left. It's a slow steady ascent and not too technical.

The Colorado Mountain Bike Association (COMBA) offers two rides per month that might help with this. Our Beginner Rides are the 2nd Thursday and our Social Rides are the 4th Thursday. Depending on your level of riding, either one or both of these rides would be an awesome way to meet ppls and get familiar with the amazing single track we have here on the Front Range.
