TITS Thursday(July 1st), The Quest for Gold

So there may still be some gold left in thar hills and if not, well, there is still some stellar singletrack to be ridden.

Meet at the Georgetown Visitor Center at 6:15pm and ready to roll on two wheels not long after. Approx 25 miles or so with an option to break off after 12 miles.

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/goatshell/3556979949/" title="IMG_3100 by Goat in a Turtle Shell, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2471/3556979949_ae2d84c0f7_b.jpg" width="614" height="820" alt="IMG_3100" /></a>

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/goatshell/3557786422/" title="IMG_3095 by Goat in a Turtle Shell, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3392/3557786422_fe1f58e8e1_b.jpg" width="614" height="820" alt="IMG_3095" /></a>

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/goatshell/3539452059/" title="Tour De Mines by Goat in a Turtle Shell, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2268/3539452059_60f3b96e59_b.jpg" width="820" height="614" alt="Tour De Mines" /></a>

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/goatshell/3877341352/" title="P8310044 by Goat in a Turtle Shell, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2528/3877341352_91b6c64b96_b.jpg" width="820" height="467" alt="P8310044" /></a>

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/goatshell/3876550015/" title="P8310049 by Goat in a Turtle Shell, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3449/3876550015_f9a5bb27ee_b.jpg" width="820" height="528" alt="P8310049" /></a>

Imagine 10 miles of that, mostly flatish and fast then we could finish up with the climb to Pavilion Point on an old Railroad grade become singletrack and a sweet decent back into G town. Somewhere around 20-25 miles total and maybe 2500-3000 ft total climbing.

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/goatshell/3877340726/" title="P8310035 by Goat in a Turtle Shell, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3501/3877340726_a7cc49abef_b.jpg" width="614" height="820" alt="P8310035" /></a>

    Yeah, the finish brings smiles

Never riden G town but you pics have my interest. I would need to break out at the 12 mile mark also doubt I will be able to keep up you guys until that point. Any chance you could you give me directions on where to break out and head back to the cars. Could prolly go get some pies ot tater wedges or something by the time the rest get back in.

Curtis, The 1st 12 miles(6 miles one way) is an out and back from G Town on the Silver Creek Trail(singletrack). It ends at the Silver Creek 4x4 trail where we'll turn around and ride back to G Town. So come out, enjoy a few miles of great trail and if you find you have more in you then you can continue the journey to Pavilion Point and Silverdale with us.

Good fun trails on this ride......at least the 1st 1/2........and the 3rd section too.
The Pav Pt section ain't the most exciting, but still allgood.

The climb is better then a dirt road any day but at least the down through Silverdale makes Pavilion Point worth it

I'm thinking we should do this two weeks in a row just so you can ride it with us when you get back.

Some of us will be meeting at the NW park n ride (Wooly Mammoth lot I believe - whichever one's the HUGE one on the NW corner of I70 and HW 40) at about 5pm if anyone wants to carpool from there.
If any slow people want to come along, don't be shy - I will be holding everyone up anyway!!

Been thinking about joining you guys for one of these rides and I should be able to cut out pretty early tomorrow. So are these trails worth the trip down from Fort Collins?

    ok Goat

    Completion Of Hole

A disc that comes to rest in the Disc Pole Hole® basket or chains constitutes successful completion of that hole.

So even with the official rules is still kicked your a$$!!

llama: is it worth it? depends on your idea of "worth it" rides are always a good time i'll tell you that. not sure on our exact route as that will prob be determined on who all shows. As this is goats show this week, wait, seems like he's taking over the reigns!! Prob will next week too as ill prob be workin nites next week gotta take what you can get!

llama - yes it's worth the drive - see you tomorrow!?

MGE - I'm lost on how this turned to dic golf, but there's a nice course at Memorial Park in Arvada.
Take Ammons (which is west of Wads about 4 blocks) north from Ralston Rd and it'll dead end into a parking lot. It starts there.

well i showed him how to throw a wicked side arm shot (at the ken caryl 9 hole) and he was thoroughly impressed, but more so the fact that i had freshly used paint rollers in the back of my truck proving that i put in more or less a full day of work!

Yeah, somehow PBR talked me out of riding my bike today and talked me into throwing discs. It was fun and that sidearm throw is cool. I think it scared PBR how quickly I picked it up. Gonna have to buy some discs as I can't find mine anywhere, hadn't used them in three years so the missus probably chunked em.

See ya fellas, including you, llama, in G Town Tomorrow!

I saw a kid selling used discs in that parking lot by the course I just mentioned at Memorial park last Fri around 6pm - just a little FYI. (maybe he'll be back Fri - he had a bunch)

Just a short ride on the cliff due to brewing thunder storms throwing bolts to close our way so we busted out of there and hit Beaujo's for a few brews n Pizza.

Next week, same place, same time, more miles of smiles!

I really like MGE's picture of TC™ on the log wall, but the lighting is just all wrong. With the storm coming in, the shot is really dark and the sky is blown out. Got Photoshop? Then you got no problems... Only solutions. The clouds may not be perfect but they're pretty good, I'm guessing if you didn't know is was scabbed together you wouldn't really be able to tell.

    ^^ +1

Throw in some lightning bolts & it'll be just like we're re-living the action.

Trucker, I've got photoshop but haven't learned to use it yet. The Missus knows how. Thats awesome what you did though and inspires me to learn at least that since I ride at those odd hours where my point and shoot gets blown out sky shots all the time.

Jeez. How did I miss this post? Nice!

Too much exposure for me, though.
