Tax Return - Whatcha Gonna Get?

So being that I am sitting at the computer looking at the hills doing taxes (boo), I am wondering just what is everyone considering with the new tax rebates? $1500 possible for us with little ones could make quite a nice haul of new gear.

    1) king wheelset
    2) avid disk set
    3) dare I say better road bike

Going to get the beater car in better shape for countless treks to Keystone this summer. I've been spending too much on the bikes and not enough on vehicle maintenance!

I already assumed I was getting Bush's stimulus money, so I racked up my credit card in anticipation.

Here to help the economy with this BS concept.

Everyone does realize, we will be paying that money back with interest. It's really just a loan.

Finished the taxes last night. I am quite pleased with the results. A good fixie will consume about 1/3 of my return. The other 2/3 are going to savings. I didn't expect to get so much back.

You need to refigure your withholdings so you aren't paying the gov'ment so much every month if you are getting a lot back like that.

Perhaps. They take a little over 28%. I figured that was typical for a young, single, childless, male in a technical position.

$2300. new pedals and maybe new cranks and investing the rest of it. I already spent too much money on my bike this year and my girlfriend will give me endless amounts of crap for spending even more on it.

    well...

...I blew a chunk of last year's return on a '07 Blur LT. This year it's time for some upgrades:

    1) a Marzocchi 55 ETA fork

    2) a new front wheel with a 20 mm hub (to complement the fork).

    3) a new (better) headset.

Seems like no one cares, alas. Supply-side push was shown to be a lousy economic model - and this little bastard step-child of that kind of policy is just stupid. Just puts more money (debt) in foreign (China's) hands, and thus helps fuel the continued decline here.

But hey! I can buy some stuff...

What was that cheesy 70's EZ-Listening song with a chorus that had '...Slip slidin' away....' in it? James Taylor or some such artist recorded it. That'd be our economy's theme song of late!

Like Russel Crowe in 'Cinderella Man', I wish I could take that cash back to DubYa so he could shove it back up in the spot from which it came. And I need not mention that location here!

    Ah. TGIF and all that.
