T.i.t.s. Impostors. Touring. South.. Springs night ride.

Could not resist the Denver night riding crew reference.
I was thinking about hitting up CMSP this week. What does everyone think? I'm pretty inflexible on this idea though......

Thursday actually works better for me. I could make Wednesday.. but it would be tough. If we're going to copy those northerners we should go all in.

It seems like we could do Thursday. Also, I'll have my new 29 enduro and Jay will be aboard his new 29 stumpy. Might we choose a slightly rougher ride?

I am back in for the T.i.t.s ride. You will be missed Becca, I did not to spur a switcharoo, however, I think the thread title had more to do with it. I looking froward to seeing some new bikes between the legs of Inflexiables.

Let's do a roll call real quick. Who is for tonight and who is in for tomorrow night?

I see that p_Dubs is riding tonight starting around 5/5:30 in Palmer. I want to go bananas on the new bike today and tomorrow so I am down for both nights, and I believe that JayDude is in for a twofer as well.

As to where we ride, how about Palmer tonight and Sec. 16 from Rudy's tomorrow?

That is a sweet bike - I will be following to see your thoughts on it! It was one high on my list of bikes to check out (hopefully tonight). I am moving to the Springs this summer (will be at Peterson AFB) and hope to hook up on these group rides as soon as possible (and once i can get acclimated back to elevations! been at sea level for tooo long).

The Enduro's first ride is in the bag. Serious, serious bike. I need to drop 10% air pressure from the fork and add 10% to the rear to balance it out, but otherwise this f*cker slays! It is 16mm shorter in the rear than the Stumpjumper so the rear end snaps corners and the front end comes up easier, all with less effort. It doesn't have quite as much get-up-and-go as the Stumpjumper but makes up for it on the descents. It is pretty much what I thought it would be. I still recommend the SJ for that more perfect blend of XC and AM, but if you need to turn the burl factor up a notch, the Enduro delivers. I am using the same wheels and tires from my SJ, so any difference in pedaling feel is all about the bike and suspension setup. I'm a little miffed that the CTD is valved kinda weak. There is a noticeable change in low speed compression when the switch is moved, and that does indeed help with longer, smooth climbs, but they could have bumped up at least the 'climb' mode by 20%. I used the 'trail' mode 90% of the ride last night in the rough terrain that Palmer is. I really need to get the pressure dialed in before I can put in my final opinion. One thing for sure, when you really get physical with the bike, it responds and doesn't feel like it is holding you back--it gives you that, "I have more potential in my design than you know what to do with", rolling of the eyes kind of response. I'm pretty sure I heard a yawn at some point in the night.

    Setup:
Fork: 65-70psi with two volume reducers (tokens) and 4 clicks of low speed compression. This OEM Pike uses one simple, 16 click, low speed damper control. My SJ had the RCT3 and I have to admit, I prefer the OEM controls better. With my RCT3 I ran the low speed knob at max and it was still about 10% from where I really wanted it. And if you twisted the knob to 'pedal', it was too firm for trail use, where as the OEM 16 click knob has the same range but is graduated throughout. I hope that makes sense

Rear: I forget haha. I think it had 180psi. I am a 165lb, relatively smooth rider.

I'll report back after tonight's ride.

I just measured in Google Earth. It is just over 3 miles, mostly climbing. So what is that? 20-25 minutes? We never actually leave at 6pm, so I'd say have him meet us at 6:40?

That guy with the dog was looking hungry.

Baller night: nice temps, the ice was all textured, and the new bikes stayed upright. Thanks for the shock pump, HTRN. After that Root trail, I need to revisit my volume reducer choices. Great trail picks for suspension testing!
