I would do it but my wife and I are doing the cone tomorrow since it's an even day.

Anyone up for doing the 8:10 bus to ned on monday? I'm doing Eldora to caribou to sourdough to ward to hell and high water if I my frail body can manage it.

505? that sounds good. I'd do it but I promised the wife we'd do a long hike with the dogs.

Hey, does the odd/even thing at Centennial Cone cover holidays, too? I was thinking about riding there on Monday, REAL early to miss the crowds. Is that legal?
I drank the 29er koolaid- turns out it was POWERade

I think so. I believe the sign just specifies weekends.
Yep, I just checked. Here's the link:

I was bummed because after the 31st of August, the 32nd didn't come into play. We wanted to ride today but opted for another trek that included the best omelet I have ever had at some breakfast joint in Niwot; hollandaise sause on my spinach, feta, tomato omelette was simple devine.

Tomorrow, it's a bonk ride on Cent cone followed by some sort of recovery food in golden. It might be that gyros at Ali Baba. Good chow.

Geez, yeah- what if the 31st had fallen on a Saturday instead of Friday? That would cut MTBer's out for the whole weekend. But would never happen for hikers. That seems a bit unfair.

Good point. That even has to occur at some point. Prolly a blue moon on that day.

NO weekend MTB day last weekend in May 2008

Just out of curiosity, I checked next years calender. The last weekend in May 2008 is May 31st and June 1st. Which means no MTB's at Centennial Cone that weekend.

Figures it would happen during riding season.

Eh... sorry bout the thread hijack... now back to your regularly scheduled subject...

i'll be back

thanks for showing me around up there guys... dog, next time you gotta ride w/ only one leg though so i can keep up.

noob, glad dog was paying attention after you split-- though we weren't too sure about that "dead end" & "very steep" signage, we made it out.

good ride (even had time to sneak in a smothered burrito at wondervu).

Agreed...great ride guys.

What wasn't so cool was the motorcyclist that crashed right behind me on 72 coming out of the canyon. Poor sucker was ok and conscious by some miracle. Wasn't even wearing a helmet and was thrown at least 30 feet. There must have been almost 15 people there within seconds. There are some good folks in CO.

Dude is fast, no doubt about it. He did it to me too after a trail work day. Glad to hear I'm not the only one that got dropped like a hot rock. The dude abides.

mmmm indeed.
yep, near the bottom as it gets real curvy. rider must've been transported out(?) by the time i went by, but i saw the bike all gnarled up on the side of the road across from a lone cop car.

(okay that's a lame excuse-- i believe mr. ed is older than i, and perhaps the fastest rider on the front range... one gear and all).

so I'm not just lame. I got at least fifteen years and 20 lbs. on him so... ok enough with the excuses...

He is a ringer though. collegiate star racer or something.

Now for some reason I was dropping terry. But that's a different story

At least someone thinks I'm cool AND fast.

No, but seriously, I hope we can all ride again sometime. I like to kill myself alone, but its nice to ride with other humans sometimes.

Ha! Great to hear some of the same excuses that I was using! I added poorly conditioned to the old and fat excuses though. I'd love to get in another ride, but broke my wrist on Dakota Ridge a couple of weeks ago and will be lucky to be ready for the early boarding season. Look out next year though... I'm sure all of the sedentary beer drinking will have me in prime shape for the spring.

I don't suppose I qualify as anything approaching fat either, but I needed three excuses as to why I was dropped like a fat, out of shape, old man.

Chasin'Dog

Took the dog on a ride from Como to Breck and back.Spent all day chasing the dogdood,I'll use the same three excuses old, fats and out-a-shape But I had a great ride. Pics from ride here http://picasaweb.google.com/s.s.spiked/9307
check out how the dog gets cooler later in the ride, there should be more pics but it's hard to take pics when you're trying to keep up
Half fast, not slow, not fast... just half fast.
