    Springs Wednesday ride 08/14/2013

I'm not sure if you guys talked about where to ride this week yet, but I'm throwing my vote for Ute out there (rain permitting). I'm oncall this week so staying close to home would be nice.

That works for me. I think we may have weather again though based on the current guesses. Cheyenne Canyon as a backup?

I tried to ride Ute today and it is still sloppy from yesterday's rain. I had to turn around just after I got into the park. It probably isn't going to be too good for Wednesday if we get any more rain.

Supposed to rain every afternoon through Wednesday. Haven't done Cheyenne in a while... Would be up for that, maybe even get to ride it with sunlight this time.

    In and up for whatever.
Section 16 might also be a good alternative. It was in awesome shape this past weekend.

I like this idea. It would be nice to check out the Medicine Wheel re-route. If we tossed in some Stephanie's and possible even some BJ.... it could be a pretty good night.

As I said before, I'm good for anything. In all this time I have not done Section 16, so it would be perfect for me... how long is that ride? Can Julio come?

The Med Wheel reroute ROCKS! It's way better than the old climb(although Arin thought it was too much climbing ). Luis, it's a fast downhill so it will be hard for Julio to keep up.

Crashed, We welcome anyone to join. With that being said, the rides are medium paced, leaning more towards the more advanced/technical aspects of trail riding. So if you're up for it come join us! Be sure to bring lights and pads are recommended.

Not making any commitments as of yet. You guys know what happens every time I do. With that being said, I wouldn't mind participating. I'll cut out before dark of course. Might bring along one of my Lt.'s, I rode Elk park with him a couple weeks ago. Great rider. He just picked up a brand new SB66 he's been dying to shred.

Yeah, I would say it is safe to rule out Ute. Sounds like Section 16 is the spot.

two different meeting spots for section 16 rides (depending on what everyone else wants to do):

rudy's bbq on the corner of 31st and highway 24 if we're going to pedal way up the road to the start of high drive, and end back down through red rocks

    or

anywhere you can get parking near the start of high drive, where bear creek rd and gold camp rd intersect @ 38.820117,-104.892087 (http://tinyurl.com/mppznk3)

I will be at the caretakers lot area at the bottom of high drive. If I ride over I dont want to go all the way down to rudy's then back up and if I drive over it will be since I just dont feel like climbing that much after work cause Im a big girl.

I will be there wherever that might be. Red Rocks is going to be soft, we need to stick to the Grus. Section 16 will be a short ride maybe we should start out with a little climb up High drive and warm up on Black Jack and then 16.

So it sounds like we're meeting at the caretaker's, and not Rudys? Just to make sure everyone is on the same page.

Sorry, but for those not familiar with the area... I know where Rudy's is... but where is Caretaker's? Do you have an address, cross streets or directions? Thanks! guys!

Looking forward to tonight's ride. By the way, I think I am bringing a new guy along.

The cross streets are Gold Camp Rd, Bear Creek Rd and High Drive (there is a 4 way stop there and the caretaker's house is up the canyon). There are only a few spots there so I will likely park on Bear Creek Rd in one of the pull offs.

The first trail we are going to ride is the trail where we saw the mama bear and cub so it's definitely on the aggressive side of riding (especially with the recent rain fall). Section 16 isn't as steep as the first trail, but it is definitely more rocky!

I'm stoked that my bike is only 33.5 pounds, but High Drive is going to be a brutal climb--last time I did that climb I was on a lighter bike!

Great ride guys. That second loop around Palmer/Section 16 was good times. The Amoeba hasn't had a workout in awhile.

Here is the track from tonight:

Here are the only two pictures I took:

Cool! Section 16 was so nice that we had to ride it twice! 3,680 feet? That's not bad for an after work ride !!! Thanks to everyone who came out to enjoy it!

Yeah, I'm not sure about that either. Strava showed it almost 1000ft less... but oh well... Either way that was a lot of climbing close to home.
