    Springs Wednesday Night ride

With all the rain we're supposed to get this week I'm guessing a Canyon ride Wednesday?

The plan is to do a Birthday ride for Keith in Palmer Park. Unless Mother Nature has anything to say about that--in which case, the Canyon probably makes the most sense.

A birthday ride huh? Does that mean we have to wrap our beer?

I seem to eat **** every time I ride at Palmer, but for birthday celebrations I will risk it Also, I have seen you guys post about Cheyenne Canyon being a default for rain/weather. Why is that? Don't the trails down there get soaked too?

I have that same issue at Palmer... usually when following Arin. The Canyon is our go to for rain days because of the soil. The mud/clay that develops in Palmer, Red Rocks, or Ute Valley doesn't take kindly to bike tires and they can leave deep ruts. The loose stuff in the Canyon isn't as impacted when we ride it wet. Plus, the moisture actually helps traction and can turn into hero dirt.

Tennubs and I want to eat tacos after the ride. Let's meet at Lazy Land parking lot instead of the stables. Tennubs is bringing a propane wok to make delicious tacos. We will carry wok and foods up to the shelter at Lazy Land. You guys ride and I will chop some Sh@t up. If chips and salsa showed up to have with the tacos, that would be great. If it rains and the canyon is the new location, we will have to reevaluate--perhaps move foods to someone's house. cough*Erin and Kip*cough...?

    Mmmm....tacos .

Does everyone know where to meet at the Greencrest Trailhead off of Austin Bluffs near Lazy Land? It's the first right after Union when you're going east. BTW, I got married in that pavilion.

Lazy land lot at 6, got it. What is the meeting spot and time if we end up riding cabyon?

We usually meet in "the Chutes Lot" which is the Stratton open space lot off of Cheyenne at Ridgeway. If we meet there, what is the plan for tacos?

Regardless of the meeting place, is there anything else I can bring for tacos?

Maybe I'm a "glass half empty" guy lately, but I don't see ANY chance we'll be able to ride Palmer Park tonight...

So it looks like the Canyon it is then? If it is really wet out there do we even want to hit Stratton, or should we park at lower Jacks?

If it continues to rain maybe we might consider doing just jacks then go grab beers some where close.

    Happy Bday Chris!

    Springs Wednesday Night ride

Tut tut it looks like rain. Canyon and tacos at my place works if people still want to get their ride on.

    I tapped that

I think that is a good idea. Do we want to meet at the lower Jacks lot? I mean the one just east of Tunnel #1 on Gold Camp Rd?

    Happy Birthday Chris and Keith!!!

Food is on. Nic, Joe and I are going to hang out at Erin's and drink beer while we make taco stuff. We will have two ez ups for shelter. If anyone doesn't want to ride, they can help drink beer with us. I plan on stopping by the start to say hi...which leads back to Kristian's last comment about where to meet for the ride. Figure that out and post back here

I've been watching the system most of the day on radar and this is (obviously) not the standard monsoon pattern we have in July. Things look like they have stabilized, but there is a lot of moisture in the area and it is likely going to rain tonight when the temp drops.

That being said, if we're going to ride in the rain, do we want to start out at the lower Jack's lot so we're a little closer to the cars, or do we say the hell with it and start from the Chutes lot? I'm kinda feeling Chutes Lot, but I could be easily persuaded otherwise...

lets just risk it and meet at the chutes lot. It will be easier logistics wise since we are meeting at Arins house later.

If we hit bad rain we can bail on spring creek/columbine.
