    Springs Night Ride 12/18/13

It's going to be a high of 62 degrees on Wednesday, and it's also going to be nice today and Tuesday. I don't know what's going to be good by then. I'm thinking that Palmer Park and Ute will be 95% good, 5% camo ice. Do we want to try one of those two parks, or something else like CMSP or Pulpit Rock? I'm up for anything!

HTRN and I discussed Palmer Park but Ute could be cool too.

If there was already discussion about Palmer Park, let's do that then. Is this Flowy Palmer, Chunky Palmer, or a little bit of everything Palmer?

My work schedule is pretty hectic this week, so I am in "maybe" status. But if we were to ride Palmer it would bump it up to "probably but with the possibility of being a few minutes late" status lol.

I don't know how good Ute will be. When I rode Saturday there was still a lot of snow on the north facing trails. I can't get a lunch ride in today, so I can't check it out. I should be in for either location, but I'm leaning toward Palmer.

Edit: bah, that's what I get for not refreshing the window before I post... So Palmer it is. A little of everything sounds good to me.

I'm cool with Palmer, but I'd like to avoid any of the known mud areas such as near the stables. I might be able to do a little cross bike recon tomorrow afternoon--keep you guys posted. As to the level of chunk is concerned, let's shoot for medium. Meaning that I'm down for some chunk, just not for the whole ride.

Since no one has mentioned the usual Paseo/stables as a meeting spot, I want to throw out meeting at lazy land off of Austin Bluffs. The stables lot is always freezing, full, and I just generally hate it.

Just so you know, we aim for danger a little bit and we take 1-2 beer breaks even in freezing temps. Prep for that.

And the newbie always should bring beer!

Seriously though to Teethandnails, it sounds like we're going to meet at the Greencrest trailhead which is on Brenner Place just south of Austin Bluffs at 6:00. We usually end up riding about 6:10-ish so plan on standing around in the cold a little while we wait for whoever's running late that night. It shouldn't be that cold though this week.

Bring lights and I would suggest armor if you have it. I will likely be the only person who actually wears armor, but it's always a good idea when riding Palmer Park in the dark IMO . This will definitely be a Remedy ride (based on your bikes in the signature).

Did that recon. Palmer is in premier shape. Rode UP cobblestone, all good for what I saw. Yucca flats is totally clean. Jedi is shredding. Dark side (along Austin Bluffs) is snowed in but not at all icey, it was fun. Should be a great ride tomorrow, sirs.

Are those Brussels sprouts? Why would you wear a mask if you're just cutting up sprouts? I don't get it...

What a great ride! I can't believe how warm it was!

I've long suspected that I ride faster at night and now I have proof of it . Strava has definitely had an impact on the Inflexibles, and I'm not sure that is a bad thing I'm lucky to have such a great group to ride bikes with who push me like that! You guys rock!

No Starva for me, dropped my phone in the parking lot and busted the display before my ride home...
This was definitely a fun ride though! It's hard to beat those temps for a December night ride!

I'll brag a little... BTW, I don't understand why Chris doesn't have "Phat Palmer" in his segments as he was right behind me the whole way down, and we have the same time on the Cheyenne descent. That's a bummer about your phone Keith--I think you would have beaten both Arin and I on "From the Top".
