    Springs Evening Ride 5/25/11

HTRN and I were discussing a ride that starts in the lower Cap'n Jacks parking lot off of Gold Camp (by the first tunnel) for this week. We've done a different version of this ride earlier this year but we would tie on CJ's this time instead of Sec 16.

6:00pm at the bottom of CJ's? Who's in?

Does this route involve climbing High Drive?

We would only be climbing 2/3 of it (plus Buckhorn). However, if that's no-bueno, I'm totally up for other options or ideas.

Nah, that is fine. I was only kiding, well...sort of. I've been off the bike for 3 weeks so it won't be my normal pace but I should be able to make it.

At least we won't be climbing the worst 1/3 of it . That climb kinda kicked my bootie last time we did it so you won't be the only person suffering.

Jay, PP was great. There are some pictures up on the Knolly board.

I may be in, I don't leave until late the next day for 7 days of stupid hard racing. Should I bring SS or are we climbing hard enough that recovering legs should have gears.

I'm on the SS, but we'll be climbing buckhorn and then high drive so gears might be nice.

Cool video htek. I like that crazy rodeo line you took in that last shot. Looked a little wild.

that was the "bad line" one where i thought i was going to eat it. The camera man got his button pushing mixed up and had it on record on the down time and turned it off for the next run. Got some sweet foot shots though!!!

I'm a 48-yr old hack who will likely be on a rigid SS, so might be able to meet you guys there, but you all will likely disappear on me quickly Are you planning on riding so long that I'd need a good light by the end of the ride? If so might have to pass this week as I don't have right now.
    Thanks... -Eric

    Hi Eric,

Yes, for the route that we're looking at doing, we will probably finish up about 8:45-9:00 so the last 45+ minutes will be in the dark for this ride. The last couple of rides we've done finished earlier though (during daylight still). Tune in next week--we'll probably do something shorter.

I think I'm in, just depends on how the legs are recovering; I have to be 100% by Sunday and am starting the road trip on Thu. If anyone wants to pedal up just shoot me a message. I'll leave my place 5:15-5:30 to be to lower Jacks by 6pm. Sadly, no beverages for me this week; gotta get skinny.

That's tempting... I better save my legs for getting back up to the top of High Drive though.

Joe, I'm out for tonight. Let me know when your next Tuesday trail day is though and I'll try to make it.

Thanks Hitech! I'm actually feeling much better today, and things are on the up and up.
So unless work throws me a wrench tomorrow, I'll definitely be there!
You guys will have to excuse my hacking and snorting tomorrow, cause it sounds like we'll be doing some climbing.

Did anyone find a friend to hide in the bushes and watch our cars? Maybe a loyal dog that'll just hang out in the parking lot?
