    Springs Evening Ride 5/22/13

Where do you guys want to ride this week? We haven't ridden Ute Valley, Palmer Park, Red Rocks or Monument as a group lately, so those seem like good choices. I'd be open to other ideas too though.

Then I think Ute is the answer! Do we want to meet at the usual trailhead and fight for parking, or is there a better place to meet?

You could park next to Pinion Valley park on Pinion Park Dr. That is where I ride into the park from. That is a shorter street, but if there isn't room there people could park on Mule Deer.

There is a large parking lot a bit past Ute at Eagleview Middle School as well. What time you guys starting? I might join for the daylight hours, since it is my backyard and all.

it might be cool to park & ride the gravel grind on the south side from pinion valley park just as a change up... (& the middle school is good too cuz it usually has most open spots)

thanks Shawn for the sweet day on the mtn yesterday... still grinnin!

I am a "might could" this week. Looks like it's on the N end of town and I could get down there pretty easy.

We're going to try a different trailhead this week so I'll let someone else post up where we're meeting (since I'm not totally sure myself).

You guys pick a meet up spot. I just need to know where you meet you in the park. I don't have to worry about parking so I'll leave that up to you.

Just to get you excited about riding here is Kristian playing around from last week.

You could park at my house. If you want you could bring something grill and I could get a fire started. All I have here is some condiments, but if you guys haven't already picked what restaurant you're hitting afterwards you could hang out here awhile.

Let's meet at Pinon Valley Park like you suggested earlier (so you don't need to put your home address online). For anyone not familar with the area, exit I-25 at Woodman and head west (it will change names to Rockrimmon but stay on the same road). Go to Vindicator and take a right. Go past the normal Ute Valley parking lot and turn left on Centennial. Go about a mile and then turn left on Mule Deer. The park is straight ahead at the intersection of Mule Deer and Pinon Valley Park Dr.

I probably won't be staying for food (thanks for the invite though), but others might be. If you're going to bring grub and eat at Brian's post up so he knows who and how many to expect.

Hey guys, I'm riding over, gonna leave pretty early to get there on time. I'm not sure where that parking lot is, so maybe I can meet you guys near the top by the beginning of the Baconback trail if that's not out of the way. If there is a better place to meet let me know. You guys can call me too, I'll have my phone on me.

So do the rides start at 6:00 every week, is it hit the trail at 6 or meet at 6. wanted to ride with you guys but wasn't sure of time. just noticed that on the inflexibles website that it says 6. I headed to CMSP since i'm familiar with the trails there. See you next wednesday.

The goal would be to hit the trail at 6:00, but that never happens. Usually we arrive between 5:30-5:45 and get riding a little after 6:00. Hope to see you next week!

That was a really fun ride guys! It was fun to do a little more sessioning than we usually do.

I ended up using GIMP. It was really pissing me off at first because the directions online showed one thing and the software wasn't doing it. When I was ready to save and set it as a GIF it was supposed to pop up an export window and I mark it as an animation. That window was never popping up. I finally found someone having similar issues that mentioned a bad install so I uninstalled GIMP and re-installed and it worked fine. Just to be sure, you're seeing the animation right? Kristian said it wasn't working for him. I see it animated in Chrome.

I should start using Chrome--all of those work for me on Chrome, but the Dale's GIF is the ONLY one that worked for me in the ancient version of IE I have at work.

BTW, I can now see the GIF you made of me--I think you sped it up a little faster than my slow speed "moment" at the top, but it looks really cool--thanks!!!

I was a die-hard Firefox guy and resisted Chrome. I gave it a try and probably won't go back. My favorite thing is that the address bar is also the search engine. The only thing I don't like is that Chrome won't switch to a new opened tab without clicking on it.

Anyways, I'd really like to have everyone's photos and videos so I can include it in the edit I'm working on. I have a home server, so if you PM me, I will send you a link and password so you can upload what you have. It is really quick and easy and will explain how in my return PM.

Hey guys I just put a new post on the inflexibles site that shows how to download and print USGS 7.5 minute quads. It is great for when you kinda need a map but don't want to carry the wonderful, but massive Pikes Peak Atlas. I'll be doing another post on how to georegister these maps and put them on your smart phone so you can track with GPS.
