    Ah, dry dirt

Nice pics. I was in the same area as some of those pics Saturday afternoon. Here's some more. Sure was a cold wind up top.

Hmmm. Never ridden the NTM trails, that looks kind of cool up there. Where is the best place to start from?

    Nice pics.

It is pretty cool up there, some areas feel like being on the moon. As far as the best place to start from, not really sure, some of what I rode yesterday was new to me. I live in Golden and usually ride up the service road right off of 93. There is a parking area in the neighborhood of off 93 by said service road, which will start you on some single track (near the water tank).

I know there are others who are more familar with NTM, but really it seems you can start anywhere and have a nice ride. I have been more impressed with NTM lately, the climbs are short, but steeeeep.

If you could drop a newbie down up on top

and let them spin around it could almost be called a beginner trail. Except to get up on top you have negotiate one of three really steep climbs which they would never go for. It's a great early season ride but too exposed in the summer for me for a mid-day ride. I do the climb up the service road starting off 93 at about 5:30 am in the heat of the summer for a before work ride. It is sorta like the moon up there, really different. There was a herd of about 30 deer up there once. I can't believe they live there year-round, wonder if they mosey on over from the White Ranch area. Wherever they come from that's a lot of traffic to negotiate.

Here's a view off the south end towards Chimney Gulch last spring: (remember when it was this green?)
