Caution; Merge; Workers Ahead! SolVista will NOT OPEN this weekend...see pic

    From the SolVista Crew
    --------------------------------
    Hey everyone,

SolVista WILL NOT OPEN THIS WEEKEND (May 30). As you can see from the attached photo that the mountain just isn't ready. The snow is gone off the surface, but the melt water is still in the mountain and working its way out, slowly.

The plan is to open Friday June 6, 2008.

Sorry for the late response. It was a tough decision, but one that everyone at the mountain feels is the best.

    www.bikesolvista.com for any questions/info.

I fail to see a problem here, at least the landing would be soft. Maybe they should have a mud pond skimming contest.

...and before anyone screams foul, this was taken at a designated, private, offroad park... no public lands were harmed in the making of this mudbog.

I dunno, it might take two XJ's to compensate for the weight unless the back of that thing is filled with pullys

think my topeak minipump is up to the task?

more disconcerting is it looks like the tire might be blown off the rim on the front of that thing... how'd you like to have to change that?

    Yep.

Anyone got any pointers on good free (bush) camping within 10 or so miles of Angel Fire? (as I expect that I can't camp in the parking lots again on a non-race weekend).

The mud on my bike begs to differ. Even on Sunday I just couldn't find a fast and dry way around that mud pit.

That place looks awesome. I saw the 'rock racing' on Powerblock a while back... I didn't know they had a tuff-truck track and a rally course too!

Unfortunately, that's farther than AAA will tow what would be the smoking hulk of my Subaru.

Eh, whatever. The skiing is too good right now to think about riding anyway.
Since when did Need have anything to do with this?

less trees = more open terrain to ski + less scenic so less gapers. That may be a bad thing for sol vista though, it would pretty much eliminate all their skiers.
