Solo travel in Sept. Where to bike, what to do?

I'll be traveling out West to see some family in AZ in September, but wanted to spend around 3 full days in CO while on the way. I've never been to CO. Any ideas on where to stay, bike, and do things?

Winter Park will running the lifts on weekends through September. Lot's of fun trails and plenty of single track throughout the valley.

Starting to cool off quite a bit. Some fog, some rain, some sun. Hard to predict here in the mountains.

The Pearl Pass Tour is the hallmark mt bike trail run of CO. 35 miles of hi-elevation climbing and thrilling descents. It takes place on the 2nd weekend of Sept. at Crested Butte. This maybe too far for you, but its worth sharing. just in case. See the website below for more info.

Prime time to hit the High Country

But coming from Florida, it might be a bit over zealous.

Depending when in Sept., the fall colors are at their peak and all the high country rides are as well. Kenosha Pass/Breckenridge and environs will keep you more than busy for 3 days and are a little more than 1 hr from Denver.

I'd recommend Crested Butte if you don't mind sucking MAJOR wind due to altitude.

And if the weather is sketchy - head to Fruita. Or Moab (not in Colorado ).
