    Single Speed Campus Bike

I know that this has little relation to mtbiking, but this has been a pretty cool project.
My 19 son wanted a single speed for campus this fall, so we began looking at the bikes in the garage and decided we needed to pursue another donor bike for this project.
We found a 60 cm, 70s vintage Puegot road bike on craigslist, already singled up for 70 bucks.
We jumped on it, stripped it down, painted it, put a new chainring, (it had a 52/18, really, really tall), put a cut down flat bar and mtn bike brake leavers, (which almost make the vintage Weinman center pull brake workable). We took it down to the Platt River trail last night, rode to 16th st for dinner, it was a blast.
It is ready to be boxed up and shipped to campus.

Built to my son's specs, as he will not be pursuing high speeds, the rear brake will serve him well.

Very nice. I would add the front brake just because. Rock it! That will be a great campus ride!

yeah, I hear you, shipping will probably be 40 bucks or so, but he heads back to campus this weekend, and we most likely will not be headed to ohio till Oct/Nov.
