    A.S.S. time (aka, Fort Collins area night ride, Thurs)

    Ok, time to make good on our word and start up the A.S.S. ride this thursday.

    What: After Sunset Singletrack
    Where: Horsetooth, soderburg trailhead
    When: thursday, 6:30 pm

    Snow/rain this week should be limited but we'll reassess if a blizzard arrives. I'm open to other locations if conditions require it, but I enjoyed riding Horsetooth last week.

    Who's in?

    (Edit: I'll be driving over from central FTC if anybody wants a ride)

    we're pretty open to route/duration. could do:
    soderberg -> timber (via valley loop) -> howard
    or
    soderberg -> sawmill -> loggers -> carie -> ?
    or
    soderberg -> n. stout -> carie -> ?
    or
    horsetooth south lot -> Spring Creek -> Wathen -> ?

    The A.S.S ride is getting off to a slow start . With more riders, you'll be less likely to be eaten by a kitty cat.

    Yeah, a couple of hours sounds about right.

    We're up to three! Anybody else...

    (I'll supply some brews for post ride hydration...for those interested in that sort of thing)

    All but two of the lions I've ever seen, have been near the trail junctions at the S end of The Rock.

    Back in the mid-80's there was a long lived female, that I'd often see playing with her cubs there.

    Damnit! I've got an appt Thursday night that lasts until 7:30 and I can't get out of it. I'll surely make the next one!

    And about cats...My brother has been working out at the CDC (just north of the stadium) and they had to run a lion off of their property a couple of weeks ago that had a downed deer

    Don't wear antlers.

    Well it seems like you have all the parts covered now. You should organize a T&A ride with both groups. I would love to see 30 mountain bikers roaming the trails, all with signs declaring what rider group they belong to on the front of their bikes.

    And speaking of wearing antlers:

    I want one.

    I saw one there 2 years ago. It was hanging out at the bottom of the dam. I still ride by myself a couple times a week on that trail, at night, and I'm not dead yet. I just sing loudly (and badly) and whistle a lot when I'm in that area. Fixing a flat there can be a little nerve racking though.

    To make things interesting, we could pull straws for who drags the raw pork chop. I guess we'll see how the weather plays out.

    I don't mind riding in snowfall, but I might prefer easier trails in that case.

    Worst case scenario, we stick to valley trails in HTMP / Lory, or ride loops at Pineridge.

    20% chance of snow today my A.S.S. !!

    I was gearing up to go for a ride when it started snowing this afternoon, and figured it was just a passing shower and decided to wait for tomorrow

    Looks like it will have to be pavement if it melts off.

    ...are you listenin...in the land...snow is glistenin...

    Ok, it's not Christmas but it does look like the first A.S.S. ride will be a snowy A.S.S. ride, assuming it stays pretty well frozen (or more falls).

    Name change: A.S.S. = another snowy suffer-fest OR after snow sojourn OR...
