    Riding in Peru

Anyone been there? I am going in May with KB Tambo tours. We are doing several days of shuttles, to include the Megavalanche course. They recommended bringing my DH bike, but I might take the WFO to test its limits.

there is a guy on here named rideit. He has organized a tour down there and should be able to help you with bike choice and other questions.

jealous - did a pretty big mountaineering trip there - awesome...so, i am sure you will have great time biking. Not sure about bringing your bike...especially if the bike is going thru lima (from personal experience I can tell you there is lots of crime)...if i had the choice to bring my own or rent I would rent.

I was hoping to rent, but they said serious riders (did not say good riders...) are not usually happy with the rental bikes. They made a good point in saying that if you're doing an epic trip, you should have the best bike possible.

And no, we have to hike in to Machu Picchu.

This is the trip, in case anyone is looking for an adventure:

Holy CRAP BigSteve, that trip looks SICK! Do us a trip log on this thread, yeah?

Edit: are you doing any pre trip gettin'-in-shape? If anything, I'd be worried about the altitude, even tho we're a bit better off here in D-town vs say FLA
