    OT: sledding around Nederland?

My kids got new sleds for Christmas but we haven't had the chance to go out yet.

Now the snow is melting off in the low lands I'm thinking this warrants a trip into the mountains but I don't want to go far.

Does anyone know to a decent sledding hill west of Boulder, like up in Nederland that is good enough for a 6 and 9 year old?

It doesn't need to be steep or long. Honestly my kids would be happy with a 20ft hill! It just needs snow and preferably be free.

    Thanks.

If you want that short, you could head up towards Brainard. There's usually snow on the road just past the gate you could play on, or you could drag them up towards Red Rocks Lake for some adventure too.
Take the long cut, we'll get there eventually.

The giant clear cut patches on the north side of West Mag seem to be getting some sled action. Strange considering it's under a closure order right now.

The old Caribou townsite is always popular.. just remember it gets darn windy and cold up there.

I'm not sure where the Caribou townsite is. Can you point to it on a map?

    Thanks.

Find Caribou Road and go west until it ends. Starts just north of the fire station on the Peak to Peak on the edge of Ned.

Just watch the runouts on top of Caribou, some angles will put you into rocks, others are fine.

In Boulder hill by Fairview High School on the frisbee golf course still had good sledding snow the day before yesterday. My kids had a blast.

Thanks for the suggestions to go to Caribou. We went there this morning and the kids had a great time!

Blue sky and no wind. It couldn't be more perfect.

No wind in Caribou? Are you sure you made it to the correct place?
