Old Fall River Rd RMNP January 2013

Has anyone ridden up Old Fall River in RMNP lately? Any idea of the amount of snow?

I wonder how far the fat bike can make it up...

    Thanks,
    -Joe

You might want to check with park officials, Joe. I don't think it's open to bikes this time of year.

Thanks Dave. I called the park it's closed to bikes as it is under "winter trail status".

But in late spring/early summer when it is still closed to cars but they have begun maintenance you are allowed to ride on it. So that is cool.

When it's closed to cars you can go both up and down. Once it's open to cars, you can still ride it but it's uphill only. Even though it's only a road, you should keep it on your list. It's a great ride.

It's also a good full moon night ride (without lights)

Yeah, it's super fun once it opens. It's steep enough, and has enough turns that cars go pretty slow (sometimes slower than a bike), so it's a good one. Tons of wildlife the whole way too. When I did it I descending the other side towards Grand Lake, then came back up and over Trail Ridge Road back into Estes.
