    Not Thread Worthy

How about a place for random thoughts about biking that aren't worthy of their own thread...

I will start: I rode my bike from the garage, around my neighborhood, without a helmet or spd's. It wasn't Epic, I didn't take pictures or map it out, but it was fun.

If there's nothing thread worthy here why would someone click on it? 'cause they're bored? wondering wtf this is all about?

I bought my first roadbike over the weekend off craigslist - for $600. Picked it up in boulder, put it in the back of my truck, and then my truck wouldn't start. How ironic.

I would of just rode home (to Westminster) but my kids were with me.

Sucks to have a budget for a bike and then have to spend more ($850 total) on auto repairs. Go figure. I could of purchased a lot nicer of a bike but instead have a car that runs, as it did prior to purchase.

I can't complain, I have 2 bikes and my wife and kids have them as well.

What will be interesting (for road) is going from a 4-5" full suspension 35lb bike as my do all - dirt, path, commute, beer getter and triathalon rig to a 21lb road bike with tires 30% the width. I'm soo used to the squish as I haven't ridden anything else the past decade.

Another forum I am on has a random thread and it works really well for just bulls***ing. Good for non bike related interesting tidbits etc.

The thread on ADVrider has almost 11,000 posts and over 700,000 views.

They call it Rockies Regional randomness.

I click on front range forum in my bookmark folder like I always do. I find a thread I want to read and go to right column where it has a thingy for last post. Just as I try to click on the thingy the page jumps up a half inch and I miss it. I have to wait until it stops and then click on it. This happens every f**cking time, you'd think I'd learn.

I have only ridden TITS an average of once/year the past couple years.
Hope to change that this year.

That can be taken couple different ways.
    Both are sad.

It wasn't cold but surprisingly warm (41F). But boy, was it windy! Springbrook felt like I was cycling into a 30-40mph headwind. I thought I could take advantage of it and get some good Strava times but it was a bust! The wind swirled based on the terrain. One moment you could be flying the next with only the slightest of turn it felt like you just cycled into a wall. There's nothing like averaging 4.5 mph cycling into a gale when you can usually zip along a 12mph - it makes an otherwise mundane ride into a challenge!

The hub on my broken frame replacement (full bike replacement - not just frame ), had some issues after only 30 miles. Took it back to shop, and they put a different grease in it, thinking it was too thick. Better, but no luck. Now it's 5 months later, and I am still riding my old wheel on the bike. Better get it in for a replacement before it's too late!

    Passed a road sign saying

    "SNOWING

    No sh!t.

I guess the four cars I passed in ditches on my way home didn't read the sign.

Best tires on the front range.... ones made with dandelion weed of course. Come summer time I should have enough in my yard to make my own.

Of course you can It may just take more work. My previous bike was 15 years old and I still rode SSV on it.

I'm guessing that was a retorical question though

Probably torn to some degree. Switch to your left hand in the shower, ibuprofen, plenty of water. Probably a good week or two I would guess.

Rather than bike this afternoon I played basketball with my 6 year old son. There was much foul play but much fun was had.

I realize that sometimes there are better things than biking when I see the joyous beam on my son's face.

Rode up around Sourdough/Camp Dick on some nice snowy trails. The pretty parts were well packed and fast. The rest was hard work.

I just found my missing watch (I sort of stopped wearing watches once I got a smart phone). I've had this watch since around 1997 and I have put it through all kinds of torture biking in that time.

I'm happy to have found it and I love that it now matches my bike (yellow and black and titanium).

Now to get a battery for it.

I had the same experience last night on my ride.. But burped out my front tire, and had to install a tube with frozen fingers.

I just found a Swatch watch that I wasn't missing, had it around say ~1985. You couldn't listen to Duran Duran without it.

I'm not happy to have found it, cause it illustrates teh suck that the 80s was and that I fully bought into teh suck.

That said, Hungry Like the Wolf is still a kickass song. Discuss.
