Not looking for the locals' sweet spots - but am traveling to Denver late June

    Hey All,

Not looking for your local honey holes, but can anyone point me to some reference material to learn about what riding opportunities I will have within an hour of Denver / Greenwood Village? Figure an hour or two hour loop I can do late in the day after work. I'll be out there the last week of June. One recommendation I have so far is North Table Mountain.

Might have to catch Widespread Panic at Red Rocks too.......

Thanks, East Coast singlespeed rider, Ben

If you go to NTM you will be in the Golden area, and there are PLENTY of trails around. Check out South Table Mtn, White Ranch, Chimney Gulch, Green Mtn, Centennial Cone, Dakota Ridge, Mt. Falcon, Lair O' the Bear...Evergreen is just a quick 20 mins up the I70 from Golden...plenty to keep you occupied. Local bike shops will have some good maps of the area...still lots more

Also, I believe Buffalo Creek is probably the go to place here on the front range, at least for me. It's about an hour drive from Denver. There are multiple ride possibilities there for an 2 hour ride. I personally like the decent of Charlie's Cutoff to Homestead to Sandy Wash. To get there you can climb Gas House or Baldy. I tried loading a map for ya but failed. Sorry

Did you see the one that recommended Barr Lake?

To Google's credit - the 1st return from that search does have some quality fun rides listed. Should get the OP started...

If it didn't recommend shuttling Apex in the first page of results, it's craaaaap!

Ben, post up in the YoLCI thread on BOL, some of the boys may be able to meet you since many of us pedal also. Yes, as some have said above, lots to ride out here. Keep an eye out for T.I.T.S. Threads each week for some night riding fun.

Thanks Ink, looking at that thread now. If I do decide to bring a bike, I will definitely post up there. I didn't even think to check with the BOL crew...

WSP tickets at Red Rocks are difficult to get. Bring cash or trade or you may be listening form the parking lot, which isnt bad, most likely you will find Thurs or Sundays, good luck and have fun.

Rode North Table Mountain (North Table loop -> Mesa Top Table climb -> Cottonwood Canyon -> North Table loop) last evening and Lair O' the Bear (Bear Creek Trail) this morning. Both were great for a CT lowlander (~300' above sea level). Really enjoyed them both!

Judging by your user name, you likely fly fish. If that is the case, you might check out Walker Ranch. Get a great mtb ride in, then fish S. Boulder Creek. A 2 fer 1!
I'm always looking for new people to ride with. If you are on the Front Range, shoot me a PM and let's go ridin'.
