Anyone ride the North Empire Mill Creek area? I have seen a couple posts in the past . I was thinking today in the 20 + years I have been riding the area I have never seen another mountain biker here. Itís a tough climb up to Mill Creek but once you are there you have many choices. No long sections of singletrack, but there is some to be found . The CDT alternate route also passes through here to Kingston Peak, where it re-enters the wilderness. (map and photos)
I have spent my days off this summer removing the deadfall from Mill Creek Park Trail and a couple other trails in the area. (photos) We finished up last week. 2Ĺ miles of premium singletrack! X-mon said it might beat the F.A.T. Yellow is the revamped singletrack.
The singletrack up Miller Peak takes out some of the road.
The view from Miller Peak (Empire, Union Pass, Georgetown, and Guanella Pass). I just canít seem to get a good shot from this location!
Mandatory stop at the Empire Motel Six
All the leafs are gone Colorado dreaminí
Some flagging tape to help you find your way. You still will probably have to download the track so you donít get lost.
The old road off Red Elephant to Hidden Valley isnít much of a road anymore!
One more singletrack.
This was a good ride although I think I will start from Empire Junction next time so I wonít have to do the climb back up to Empire at the end of the ride. I donít know though Dairy King has some of the best burgers and malts in the county.
For those of you who donít mind riding up and are looking for a technical downhill ride this is a good one. There are some nice natural rock features. There is also an old abandoned FR trail near the bottom of Red Elephant.
