Need ideas for weekend after next

So I have the weekend of 28-30th free to go anywhere.

I'm thinking Fruita, but are there better options? Which epic would you do at the end of June?

not fruita unless you really love the heat..

Durango, but still a bit warm

kind of a little early for the mountains, but maybe by then some things will be drying out

So Crested Butte might be better?

I assume they didn't get a whole lot if snow down south? Seems like we got more snow north of 70 than the south side.

Actually looking at the trail conditions Crested Butte looks promising. Whether the 402 and Kebler Pass dry out in time may questionable but there looks to be plenty of good riding lower down.

Go to Crested Butte! Even if the high stuff isn't quite open the lower stuff around town also offers tons of views and great riding. Follow Brian Riepe, editor for Mountain Flyer Magazine on Strava. He's been riding up there quite a bit already this year.

Where do people stay in Cested Butte that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

I need a place that's dog friendly (doesn't mind me leaving him in the room for four hours at a time) and doesn't cost $200 a night.

For me at the mo Gunnison seems to be the cheaper option but then there's the 1/2 hour drive.....

Almont would be a little closer than Gunnison, and the lodging (while there isn't a ton) will be reasonable and probably right along the river.

Edit: Never been to this place, but have noticed it multiple times when passing through Colorado rafting, Crested Butte Colorado, Three Rivers Resort

What I have done is go with some friends and split the cost of lodging. There are some cool little houses, an old church, etc.

Lodging in cb that weekend could be tough. CB Bike week wraps up thay weekend and its the same weekend the Big Mountain Enduro series stops in CB.

Oh, so it would be totally manic then. Perhaps I'll wait till Fall and try again.

Steamboat, Summit County, Winter Park, Black Hills, Taos...
Take the long cut, we'll get there eventually.
