need feedback fast - wheeler trail

Anyone start wheeler trail from spruce creek trail head ever? Does it make it worse or better than going up the service road at Peak 9?
I'm heading out tomorrow early morning and need some guidance.
    Thanks!

Uhhh... I've descended Wheeler *to* Spruce Creek. And it kicked a$$. Which mean it'll probably be pretty brutal climbing it.

Wheeler from Crystal Creek is mostly a push. Even top pros in the Breck Epic push most of it. That said, once you get to the top, you roll along above 12,400' for a while and then drop down a fun decent followed by a flat but soggy and technical section before you join up with the peak 9 road and can go on to Wheeler pass. My photos on the "really high" thread are from that very ride. Doing Wheeler that way is probably not for everyone, but it's pretty beautiful.

Doing it the other way as SS mentions is a real brake burner with some very steep, technical sections

Alpine flowers are really going off on east aspect above TL slopes.

100% agree. The descent would have some hike a bike too. Down into Mccoullough gulch there's some huge off camber gutted steps through a section.

Up blue river up 9 up mccoullough gulch up wheeler (some hikeabike) down to spruce to burro. Long day but pretty fun descents.
