Need a cheap mech disc brake for the weekend- SOS!

I'm waiting on a part from formula (They sent the wrong one)- my rear brake is shot at the moment, and I'm headed to the mountains for the long weekend. I'd like to ride when I'm up there! Anyone in/near Denver area have an old bb5 or something they'd let go for cheap?

    Hope this isn't considered spam...

I can let you borrow a BB7 I have lying around...it's actually pretty much brand new. Just know if you break it...you pay for it...and if you don't return it.....you'll get a massive internet lashing! Plus I will find you Otherwise...it's free for you to use for the weekend.

I live right by the flagship REI in denver, on the north side of I-25. Shoot me a PM if you'd like it!

You know that mech brakes don't come with a brake lever like hydros. I just happen to have a set of XTR vee brake levers that will work, but they're on Craigslist right now. Might be easier to find a spare rear hydro with its own lever.

Or just ride with one brake. I did that with a guy who lost his front brake about five minutes into a four hour epic in CB. It was fun for me to watch him, maybe not so much for him.
So it seems to me to be, this thing that I think I see.

I've got a brake caliper and lever for you....you'll just have to deal with getting a cable.

I also have a Hayes HFX 9 set that you just need to bolt on. You can go either way....I'm offering...so just let me know.

Yeah, one of his Hayes or one of his BB7s? Not that it matters, really, glad something happened.

Figured I'd add that the brake was returned in the condition he received it, and I acquired a new rear brake cable with it. I guess I can say,"great borrower" if that works...? Glad he was able to get some good riding in the other weekend.

and to finally answer xcguy's question....it was the BB7.

Cool. I would have borrowed the BB7 as well I had two sets of HFX 9s that I took off of ebay bikes. I sent them both in a big box with other excess stuff to a soldier over in Iraq who was the regional bike mechanic. I figured they were good enough to be ridden in a war zone.

haha...feel free to drag me out of the hole I was put in after calling out a moderator a while back. I was thrown into the pit of -20 reps in a matter of hours! Oh...good stuff!

And as for HFX 9's...they may not be the best brakes...but they work forfreakingever!
