More campsites @ 18 Rd. in Fruita

Sounds like they're expanding the camping options at 18 Rd. There was some BLM people doing some surveying near my campsite the other day. I overheard them talking to my neighbors while I was getting ready for a ride and they said they're adding 52 new sites. I don't know any details about location or time frame. I imagine at least some will be in the existing camping area since they were doing the surveying there (I was in the last lower loop on the right). Anybody else heard any details about this?

Not sure about campsites, but they (blm peeps) were asking folks questions at the Lunch Loops area on Sunday. I was told that they were looking for input on how to better serve the area.

Me too. It's like pulling teeth to find spots on the western slope this time of year.

I saw a guy out there with one of those GPS backpacks getting readings on the east side of 18 Rd by the existing campground. Interesting.

Let me be the first to say, "please stop making connector trails from your campsite to Prime Cut! It's Fruita and we keep our singletrack single!"

That won't happen. Much of the "open land" near the Lunch Loops is private.

COPMOBA is building a new trail in the 18 Road area Saturday, May 14 at 8:30am - May 15 at 3:00pm.

Hah, I was there too, filled out one of those questionnaires and noted that more campsites needed at 18 Road...funny thing was I just stopped at the loops on my way home from Moab that day

More campsites definitely needed, it's ridiculous that during prime season you have to get there by Friday morning to get a weekend site.

imo, there should be no camping at all on 18 rd to keep the clueless from poaching campsite-to-trail, as they do

I'd love to see overflow camping on the gravel road between the Mack exit and the Kokopelli trailhead.
Take the long cut, we'll get there eventually.
